Is speed the only thing that matters in innovation?

Musk goes all in on Oracle and speed--Oracle is concerned that his chose location in Memphis, Tennessee won't have enough power.

Do Open AI employees feel confident in the security at their firm?

After a security breach that went unreported and unaddressed, OAI employees worried about national security and the possibility of a breach by international actors, according to a recent article in the NY Times.

Our team decided to compile a little research to see what's happened to cybersecurity activity since Open AI was launched in 2022. Aside from learning that apparently even cybercrime takes a little holiday break around Christmas every year, it does seem there has been something of an uptick:

What's the best use case for LLMs that will replace the need to pay employees?

It appears that if you'd like to find use cases for LLMs that reduce the need for human employees, starting a misinformation firm might be it. Wired magazine explains how a single man, John Mark Dougan, is having the impact of an entire misinformation bot army from Russia.

“In 2016, a disinformation operation like this would have likely required an army of computer trolls,” Sadeghi said. “Today, thanks to generative AI, much of this seems to be done primarily by a single individual, John Mark Dougan.”

Dougan made headlines this week when his fake news article on Zelensky's wife went viral. He falsely claimed that Mrs. Zelensky used $4.8 million in US aid to buy a Bugatti in Paris.

Where are autonomous weapons systems being used right now?

The NY Times has done a piece on the newest billboard for Silicon Valley tech: Ukraine. And Palmer Luckey is the one behind a lot of it. If you are wondering where you know that name from, he's the one who sold Oculus to Meta when was still called Facebook.

Has Whataburger App replaced the Waffle House Index?

Did you know there was a Waffle House index? In the south, the Waffle House Index was an unofficial way that people could figure out how extensive and in what geographic location storm damage was occuring based on the distribution of the 24/7 fast food chain and which locations were still up and running. Now Whataburger's app is functioning the same way in Texas for Hurricane Beryl.
