ONR Global Commemorates Launch of CiTA: Catalyst for Naval Innovation in Chile
ONR Global proudly celebrates the inauguration of the Innovation and Technology Center of the Chilean Navy (CiTA), marking a significant leap forward in naval innovation and collaboration.
The ceremony, held on March 20th brought together a constellation of esteemed Chilean figures, including the Minister of Defense Maya Fernández , Minister of Economy Nicolás Grau, the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Juan Andrés De La Maza , Senator Kenneth Pugh , and a delegation of Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) representatives lead by Regional Director West, CDR Tarus Chatman ; Country Director Americas, CDR Ted Delgado ; Director of the International Science Program, Mr. Dillard Patton ; and Director of Operations, Ms. Shala-reena Malone .
Their presence underscores the pivotal role CiTA will play in shaping the future of maritime defense and technological advancement.
In his address, the CNO highlighted the importance of international collaboration in driving innovation, citing ONR Global's enduring support for Chilean endeavors. Attendees were treated to a captivating showcase of innovative solutions, including insights from companies that excelled in the ONR-sponsored AVANTE challenges.
