Recruitment: Do you stay in the safe zone?

Recruitment: Do you stay in the safe zone?

If you use agencies to help with your recruitment, then you can engage better qualified candidates by unravelling your agency PSL and making sure those agents employ the BEST Consultants.....to engage with the best talent.

"You need A marketing champion that can discover your true value - candidate or client"

When it comes to your recruitment, invest in people who understand and have a natural flair for modern recruitment methods where they are the best, most proactive influencers within their network. You need A marketing champion, they’ll also need the intellect and confidence to identify, engage, negotiate, close and influence (networking both online and in person). They’ll need to be able to build real trust with you and your prospective talent pool.

The digital economy offers a whole variety of ways to engage with people. According to CareerBuilder, jobseekers use an average of 18 different sources when looking at career opportunities. Jump in, test the waters and cast your net far and wide. Some sources will work, some won’t. Stay agile and find the ways and means that work for you. Be proactive....

Here are a few pointers...

  • Qualify agencies based on their sourcing methodologies and current consultants. You need to be convinced their methods are modern and up to date. Be warned, you will have recruiters on your PSL who are increasingly becoming out of date.
  • Replace non performing agencies with agencies operating modern recruitment strategies who can give you access to unique, better qualified candidates.
  • Establish clear performance indicators, a regular review structure and issue warnings, relegations and promotions. Do not conduct 12 month reviews, your business cannot wait. Improve collaboration with your agency; high quality agencies will trade higher fees for better collaboration

I will send you a template if you like. I suspect that the recruitment industry is not geared-up to receiving them. Candidate spends £10 and Recruitment Agency is landed with 140 person days of work and possibly a big fine. Bit of a hand grenade.

See my post re SAR. Does your agency get many SARs?

Interesting article. I have been a professional interim for 20 years and I have seen a deterioration in the quality of recruiters. Many of the best ones have moved on to form their own agencies but I have just had an horrendous experience and am about to hit one agency with a SAR.
