OUR PEOPLE

Solve for Tomorrow winners announced

At Samsung, we’re committed to empowering the next generation of innovators. Through our Solve for Tomorrow competition, we offer anyone aged 16-25 in the UK and Ireland the chance to develop the skills and confidence to design tomorrow’s solutions to societal needs. All entrants need to do is complete an entry form with a game-changing tech idea that could make a difference to those most in need across one of four areas - education, sustainability, DE&I or health & wellbeing.

The winners of our fourth year of this competition were Samuel Mo and Dexter Rigby of team Optimum, alongside Anjali Benny Devadasan and Yu Gu of team Treeva. The winning ideas focused on creating renewable energy from passing cars and using AI to reduce the energy used by home devices. Both teams received a £10,000 cash prize and three months of expert Samsung mentoring to help bring their ideas to life.

Domest-‘icks’: the household habits that spark the most household squabbles

Did you know that households spend 39 hours per year, equivalent to 26 football matches, bickering about simple household tasks? This was one of the findings in our commissioned research to mark the launch of our new campaign: ‘You and AI. As One’.

We also enlisted the help of family relationship expert, Paul C Brunson, to provide his tips on how to resolve the tensions that lead to everyday squabbling within British homes. A further answer is demonstrated in our story which shows our AI-enabled products working in unison to bring balance to modern family life.

People will spend an extra 7.7% premium for smart homes

Our Smart Home Buyers Index (SHBI)[1] is research that uncovers the key consumer priorities and considerations for when they are buying a home. In our latest data for 2024, we’ve seen an overwhelming 79% of people surveyed saying they want their next home to help with better energy-efficiency, cost savings and, above all, home security, through connected technology. This has propelled a rise in popularity of the smart home. In fact, people will even pay an extra 7.7% for one, which equates to £21,774 more than the average UK house price.[2]

At Samsung, we are constantly working closely with developer and construction partners to help futureproof their projects and property design to ensure they embed smart technology to help make consumers lives easier. Gamer, creator, whoever you may be, meet our latest monitors

We’ve just launched our latest line-up of monitors with features that deliver new experiences, no matter how you use them. If you’re a gamer, our 2024 Odyssey OLED models bring you premium performance to help you gain the edge over your rivals. For example, our Odyssey OLED G8 shares the same lightning-fast processor as our 2024 8K TV that can upscale content to nearly 4K[3] while bringing you a slick 240Hz refresh rate.

You can experience smarter entertainment and greater productivity with our updated Smart Monitor line-up. They also boast powerful upscaling capabilities, as well as AI features like Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which can analyse background noise in your environment when using the built-in Smart TV apps. This optimises your dialogue, making you sound crisper and clearer on calls.

Our ViewFinity line-up is optimised for you as a creative and professional. They support HDR10 and the display of 1 billion colours, ensuring accurate colour representation, while also integrating Intelligent Eye Care features to alleviate eye strain if you’re working over a prolonged period.

The Index is based on a bespoke survey of more than 1,000 consumers looking to move (buy or rent) homes in the next five years, combined with analysis of search volumes for smart devices and appliances from April 2023 to April 2024.
