Several Million Reasons to Make Sure Your Website is Mobile-Ready

If you have been putting off the upgrade of your company’s website to a “responsive” mobile-ready format, you might want to accelerate your timetable. A recent Gallup report has revealed that your customers are wedded to their smartphones.

The poll, conducted among more than 15,000 U.S. adults, found that 81 percent of smartphone owners keep their device with them “almost all the time” during working hours. Furthermore, 11 percent report checking their smartphones “every few minutes,” with an addition 41 percent checking their small screens “a few times an hour,” and 20 percent checking “about once an hour.” The numbers skew even higher for younger users.

This near constant use of a handheld device gives even more impetus to marketers who want to make their information more readily available to potential customers. Users who have to squint to see a miniaturized version of your website, or who have difficulty navigating a website that loads slowly on a mobile device, won’t wait around long enough to find any useful information.

In fact, a frustrating user experience can lead to a negative perception of your business. Your customers will quickly move along to your competitors, and they won’t be back.

Google knows this. That’s why they made a major shift in their search algorithm to give preference to websites that are mobile-ready and viewable on smartphones and tablets.

Its time to get smart about smartphones. Revamping your website to a responsive format offers multiple benefits, including improved search engine performance and a user experience that welcomes customers using their mobile devices, instead of turning them away.
