Simple math on commercial solar.

Simple math on commercial solar.

We all know commercial solar power is more affordable than ever.

However just a simple math would tell you that it trounces grid electricity price when considered over the life expectancy of a solar power system.

Here is a simple example with a relatively small commercial solar power system.

Question me if you don't think the math is right. I am not right all the time so I will happily take your feedback on board.

15kW grid connect solar power system in today's market would sell between $20,000 and $24,000. We will leave out GST for all purposes. Assuming it is a straight forward installation, the price can be an all inclusive of supply, design and install.

Most reputable companies would cover install warranty and the inverter/s for a period of 10 years. If you would like we will add another $5,000 as a contingency fund to replace the inverter/maintain the system. So the total outlay for a 15kW system would be $29,000.  Fair enough?

It would also be reasonably safe to assume that a quality system in the Victorian sun would generate approximately 480,000kWh over 25years. This does take into account the cell degradation.

Now just let the numbers do the talking. $29,000/480,000= .0604c ( DOLLARS/kWh)

Beat that today for a small business Mr electricity retailer! A lot of small businesses are paying close to 30c for electricity, so you make your choice.

Now before we get too ahead of ourselves the above does not take into account the cost of MONEY today's terms. However even then if you consider solar power is a very SMART CHOICE.

The above are my views. I don't want anybody to make any commercial decisions based on the above. Call us on 1300 782 217 to check if the above will apply to you.
