Singapore Airlines offers spending money to SA Travellers on route to Changi Airport

Cape Town - South African passengers flying with Singapore Airlines or SilkAir will continue to be rewarded for their choice with a free Changi Dollar Voucher (CDV) when they transit through Changi Airport, as part of a joint venture between Singapore Airlines and the Changi Airport Group.

The voucher gives passengers who are awaiting a connecting flight at the airport, or those who are entering the country of Singapore though the airport, freedom to shop around and use the facilities within the airport.

Alvin Seah, General Manager of Singapore Airlines in Central and Southern Africa, says that coalition between the airlines and the airport has been extended to 31 March 2016.

"Under the extension of the Changi Transit Programme," Seah says, "Singapore Airlines or SilkAir customers who transit through Changi Airport on either carrier, can redeem a Changi Dollar Voucher (CDV) to the value of $40 (equivalent to about R360)."

A beer, or MacDonald's combo meal in the Changi Airport costs around $10 (Singaporean dollars). With $40, one should be able to have a good meal and have some more spending money left after using the voucher.

Last year, the CDV was only worth $20.

The program has been running since October 2012, and is well expected by customers.

The CDVs are valid for one-time use at more than 510 retail, food and service outlets in the transit and public areas of Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

They can also be redeemed for one-time access to the Ambassador Transit Lounge at Terminals 2 and 3 for up to four hours. Services at the lounge include showers, light refreshments and a wide range of reading materials.

Travellers can also look forward to amenities such as airport-wide complimentary WiFi, movie theaters and themed gardens while transiting at Changi Airport, where a convenient Skytrain transport system in both the transit and public areas provides easy access to all three terminals.
