#ThinkBigger: How Intelligent Automation Sparks Innovation in Our Community

As you embark deeper into your automation journey, you might wonder how others use intelligent automation beyond what you've seen in your organization. You might also be thinking about the cool new ideas people have and how well it's working for them.

Well, guess what? We’re curious too!

We strongly believe the possibilities are endless, and the only limit is your imagination. Over the years, we've witnessed companies and individuals embracing IA in countless ways, and we can tell they’re all unique.

We want to stretch everyone's imagination. That's why we've been asking people how they #thinkbiggerwithBluePrism. Today, we're excited to share our learnings from our vibrant community members — people like you! Check it out:

The Benefits of Using IA

Let’s start by establishing some of the benefits our community has realized. Many respondents cited people-focused benefits.

Intelligent automation consultant at Deloitte, KirtiMaan Talwar , said, “Intelligent automation empowers us by freeing up time from everyday and repetitive tasks. For example, tasks like user access provisioning and de-provisioning, exporting reports from different applications, password resets, job monitoring and server patching can be automated. This allows us to focus on more important and productive activities.”

Michael ONeil , a senior lead consultant from NTTData, echoed a similar thought, “I think one of the biggest things for me is the impact automation has on people, especially when you see a new process go live that zips through thousands of work items in a few hours. And then getting the feedback from the team about how relieved they are they no longer have to spend so much time working on a massive backlog of work as the bot has taken that burden from them.”

The benefits also continue to extend as technologies develop. “RPA/IA is widely recognized for its productivity benefits and has proven effective so far. With the integration of AI, it’s going to reach even greater heights and unlock new possibilities for automation,” says Tejaskumar Darji , a senior consultant – technical lead, WonderBotz.

“Thinking holistically about how automation could revolutionize processes rather than simply replicating an existing system allowed us to unlock greater value. I always look to bring this big-picture mindset to create transformative change through intelligent automation. Even if a process currently works at a basic level, I want to explore how it could be elevated to the next level using the power of software robots. Intelligent automation provides the opportunity to pursue bold visions rather than just incremental improvements.” Adds Vipul Tiwari , senior process simplification architect from Amazon.

How Should You #ThinkBigger?

Thinking bigger often presents an exciting challenge. It means stepping out of your usual thoughts and exploring new ideas. Luckily, our community has some great advice on how to do just that.

Amlan Sahoo , a senior consultant at WonderBotz, advises people to remember that the world continues to change, “Automation should evolve with time, otherwise it will lag not only in technology but also in platform UI, different language integration, more user-friendly etc. The automation industry is just like the mobile industry. It needs to evolve with the market.”

Automation can easily become overwhelming — with so many possibilities to use it. Genold Bañares , head of automation development at Virtual Blue, reminds us, “Think big, but take things step by step. Always aim for the low-hanging fruit first. Automation has the capability to re-use the components from one process to another. Over time, while working on the small ones, you are slowly hitting your goal, getting the bigger targets in a cost-effective manner.” Silvina Montemartini , head of RPA at Santander Technologia Argentina, shares a similar tip about framing your thinking, “For a full digital transformation, a change of mindset is key. Automation not only has a positive impact in your FTE, but your ROI will increase as well.”

“Gain leadership support, provide customer demonstrations to educate on new technologies, embrace a citizen developer program, publicize your work and recognize the customers who assisted with each build.” Banner Health’s senior IT director, Suzi Dack , also emphasizes the need for leadership buy-in and a supportive culture. Rohit Nath , an IT automation delivery manager at Kimberly Clark, adds that you should have a Centre of Excellence (CoE), as it helps establish a strategy for your thinking and continuously ensures you upgrade best practices.

Christoph Lütchens, an RPA team lead in banking and financial services, also mentions that people shouldn’t only focus on existing processes. Create new products and processes based on RPA. You should also be transparent and open-minded for solutions in other branches and companies.

How Does SS&C Blue Prism Help Expand Possibilities?

Curious about how we can help open up new horizons for you? Let’s take a look:

Namita M Pande , director for innovation and strategy at Pfizer, said, “I had a great relationship with SS&C folks. We met monthly to exchange ideas, pipeline and what's new. We focused on intelligent automations and continued to learn from the experts and took guidance on what is the art of possible.”

For Prasanna Kumar Ballepalli , an innovation manager for Prosegur, we helped by reframing our approach to a challenge. They said, “SS&C Blue Prism's bottom-up development methodology helped us to create reusable and easily maintainable automation components.”

“I started working with SS&C Blue Prism six years ago, and since then, my day starts at work thinking bigger about what better I can do to make our bots smarter to handle human-like workload, enabling them with connected technologies.” Adds Jignesh Khakhriya , senior robotics software engineer at Shell. He continues, “[SS&C Blue Prism] also helps us to think bigger in delivering business-driven automation by aligning automation initiatives with strategic business objectives. This results in thinking bigger about automation's potential impact on the overall organization.”

How Has Accessibility Helped?

The development of low-code/no-code platforms has transformed the landscape and accessibility of IA development. What’s the impact?

Sandeep Kutwal , manager – digital technologies CoE from ADP, said that the introduction of these technologies has improved the speed of automation. It has also created more robust and reliable automation delivery.

An intelligent automation consultant for Avanade Brazil, Emerson Ferreira , said, “As it is low-code/no-code and a very visual platform, this helps the client to be closer to understanding what is being done and collaborating with the final solution — thus gaining more agility in correcting logic and bugs.” They add, “So, when we reach the end of development, we have a large part of the solution pre-approved with the client, saving time and rework. This optimization happens because the client and the developer look at the screen and are speaking ‘the same language’ and that’s only possible through the simplicity conveyed by the low-code/no-code platform that SS&C Blue Prism provides.”
