Top 4 AGT Cameras for Border Surveillance Equipped with Advanced Features
The first requirement for any border surveillance or perimeter security system is to be able to detect potential threats and then to identify them. The only component of such systems that can do this is the camera. There are other sensors that can work alongside cameras to improve those systems' effectiveness, but only the camera is essential.
The choice of cameras is therefore of critical importance. The Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) division of AGT would like to present some details on the sort of cameras that we include in the solutions we can offer, and why those cameras are more advanced than those you can get elsewhere.
1-Thermal Imaging cameras:
Thermal Imaging (TI) cameras generate an image of an object from the heat it emits, not from the light. TI cameras can therefore generate an image even in places where there is zero light.
The pixel arrays in these cameras can be either cooled or uncooled. TI cameras with cooled arrays have a longer range than uncooled, but they are more expensive than uncooled.
AGT offers the most powerful TI cameras in the world that are used in stationary configuration for border surveillance purposes. No other company can offer both cooled TI cameras with a 1200mm lens (using 10µm array) and uncooled TI cameras with a 350mm focal length (using 12µm array).
According to Johnson’s Criteria, our uncooled TI cameras can detect a man-size object at distances of up to 13km, and our cooled TI cameras at distances of up to 30kms. These figures are currently the longest in the world.
The coolers in the cooled TI cameras that AGT offers have an MTBF of 20,000 hours as standard but can optionally have an MTBF of 50,000 hours. Nobody else can offer cooled TI cameras that have an MTBF of over 50,000 hours.
2-Day cameras:
Similarly, the day cameras that we offer have the longest range of all the cameras that are used in stationary configuration for border surveillance. AGT offers a day camera with a 1200mm lens, or with a 2400mm lens (effectively) if the optional 2x extender is used. Nobody out-performs this now.

3-Pan / Tilt:
AGT offers the highest performing Pan / Tilt systems in the world. For example, the P/T’s that we offer can rotate in azimuth or in elevation at rotational speeds of up to 200° / sec, or at speeds as low as 0.001° / sec. In addition to this, the P/T’s we offer can have an accuracy and repeatability as small as 0.0001°. Again, nobody in the world can beat this level of performance at the moment.
4-Multi-sensor surveillance system:
The TI cameras, day cameras and P/T’s described above can all be combined into one multi-sensor surveillance system (MSSS). Clearly, the sort of MSSS’s that AGT can supply will be just as high performing (if not higher performing) than the MSSS’s that anybody else can supply.
