Women in rural areas are often overlooked or forgotten, but they make a difference in their communities. They work hard to provide for their families, and their struggles are often overlooked.

We salute these women on International Women's Day!

International Women's Day celebrates women and the many ways they contribute to society. It is also a chance to recognize the challenges that women face every day, including gender-based violence and discrimination.

This year, we want to bring attention to the rural women of India who are facing unique challenges—and working harder than ever to make their communities better places. From helping farmers harvest their crops and deliver them safely to market; to educating their children and caring for elderly family members, these women are making it possible for their families to thrive in the most challenging conditions.

It is time we recognize the incredible work these women are doing and helps find ways we can support them as they continue their journey.

As part of its mission to facilitate empowering initiatives that support rural women, Vilcart has been working to provide education and skill-building opportunities for women in rural communities throughout India.

Enabling access, self-sustainability and driving financial stability.

Vilcart is supporting rural women with various self-help groups. The goal of this initiative is to give rural women who are living in poverty a way to help themselves and their communities while also providing them with ways to discover and increase their income streams. With VilDirect, women get resources to promote home appliances and other daily essential appliances to their neighbours and network. With this, they will be adding an additional income stream while working as per their flexibility. VilDirect is making a massive impact in the remote areas of Rural India where logistics is a major problem, and many villages which are the beneficiary of the project do not have access to a basic transportation facility. Here in these areas, VilDirect delivers home appliances on demand so our women entrepreneurs can generate income and build their networks.

Through Vilcart’s Women's Self-help groups, they learn from each other and act on issues important to them. These initiatives are helping educate women on sustainable livelihoods so they can take control of their economic situation. Our vision is to educate rural women about self-sustainability, so they can become financially independent and build a better future for themselves and their families. 

For years, rural women have had to travel far distances to purchase goods they need for themselves or their families. Vilcart makes it possible for these women to stay home with their children while still being able to work.

By employing rural women, we allow them to create a sustainable lifestyle for themselves and their families. Vilcart only hires locally to strengthen the local community, a large number of women employees power Vilcart’s operation, support, and other core functions.

Vilcart was founded on the belief that every woman deserves to be treated with respect and dignity—and that no one should ever be denied access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. That is why we are so grateful for our rural women, who are an integral part of our success.

From creating an opportunity for them to generate additional income through Vildirect to supporting their financial stability, from grooming their education on a digital platform for sourcing all products which are required at the village to bringing awareness to rural women about the quality products they can purchase through Vilcart, our rural women are truly making a difference in their communities—and in ours.

The way forward

Women are leading the way in India. And they are doing it in their way; by creating opportunities for themselves where they did not exist before. The Indian economy has been on the rise over the past decade and a half, but there are still challenges for rural women who want to take part in this growth.

At #Vilcart, we work to help rural women in India live a life of financial stability, and we are always looking for ways to make that happen. We know how important education is for women like these who live in remote villages across India. We strive to make it easier for these women to learn about the products and services available to them; so, they can make informed decisions about what will improve their lives most.
