Wellbeing & Happiness as an Employee Engagement Strategy

Wellbeing & Happiness as an Employee Engagement Strategy

With the COVID outbreak we quite rightly saw greater shift on both individual and organizational level towards initiatives to promote wellbeing. This was not just to make them aware and conscious of the threat to their physical wellness but also to cater the sudden lack of social life, affects of social distancing and constant mental stress due to adverse conditions for business and workplaces to operate in.

Well-being and employee engagement are quite closely related. When an employee is satisfied with their job and feels that they are able to make an impact with their set of skills, it positively affects their physical and mental health and consequently they’ll feel happier in the workplace. It’s a relationship that builds off of one another, and organizations should really take advantage of that.

Gallup research says that 62% of engaged employees feel their work positively affects their physical health. However, when it comes to disengaged employees, this number drops to 39% and a mere 22% among actively disengaged employees. Here e 3 ways of how well-being & happiness can improve employee engagement at your organization:

Stronger Workplace Relationships

Well believe it or not, stronger workplace relationships have direct effect on employee health, happiness and job satisfaction. In contrast employees who don’t have enough support tend to feel more disengaged and demotivated. Well-being initiatives help in bringing teams together and engage in a more informal environment building stronger work relations even if they are working remotely.

Less Workplace Stress

Workplace pressure and stress has been one of the biggest challenges in all the corporate organizations and in the current scenario its amplified where teams are working remotely and trying to deliver in unfavorable circumstances. The constant reminder of living mindfully and being aware of your how your mind and body is responding to the changing environment can significantly put you in control to combat the stress levels and eventually perform better.

Higher Morale and Productivity

When your people are doing well in all the facets of well-being be it social, career or physical wellness; and the environment in which they are working is happier it eventually creates positive vibes around them, and they tend to focus more on the productive at work. When rightly implemented, well-being initiatives can play a vital role in creating an engaged and productive workforce. A happy and healthy employee is what all organizations need for success!
