Western Australia's Renewable Energy Boom - I Start on Monday

Prior to today I have written one and only one article on LinkedIn (Western Australia's Renewable Energy Boom - Where do I start?). Some of you may or may not have read it but it was a short article about how I believe Western Australia is primed to become a leader in the utilisation of solar power combined with battery storage on a commercial and industrial scale if it did so desire and how I wanted to get my foot in the door of what I believe to be 'the next big thing' over here on the renewable energy abundant west coast.

Well I just wanted to share an update following that artical to say that here I am less than two months later taking a short break from preparing to leave Onslow and the Wheatstone Project for the very last time on Sunday to start a dream job on Monday with, you guessed it, one of the few businesses set up to develop large scale solar power and battery storage facilities on a commercial and industrial scale in Perth. Would you believe it!

Around the time of writing my original article I sent out what can only be described as a speculative application to a business which I thought was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. What I did different though is not just send off the generic CV and cover letter combo like most people do, I tailored my CV to highlight the skills I thought would benefit their company and I wrote a cover letter showing the passion I have for the industry. And the best thing about the whole process...? It was easy! That is because I meant every word. There wasn't any bulls****ing at all, it was honest and as they say "all killer, no filler".

This must have struck a cord with the powers that be because a week ago I was woken from a post-night shift sleep with a phone call to offer me an interview. However a slightly groggy headed me almost blew it from the off because I'd not picked up on whom I was talking to and rather casually told them I wouldn't be able to make it to an interview because I was away on site. Thankfully though my head cleared pretty quickly, I realised who I was speaking to, retracted my word swiftly and begged for a phone interview. Later that day a phone interview took place and again, my passion for the role came across and combined with my past experience I was offered the position just two days later to start this coming Monday (hence the witty title).

I honestly couldn't be happier or more excited to begin the next chapter of my career in what is hopefully just the beginning of a major revolution in local and national power supply with me right in the thick of it!

Oh and don't get me wrong, I may have just got really lucky but I honestly don't think that is the case, I firmly believe that my passion and ability to convey it is what has given me and could give anyone else a massive head start over the competition.

That's true, had a similar experience! To make the title complete, I would also add #safety :)
