What is it like as an Information Security Analyst at bet365?

This week we caught up with Konstantinos Zacharis, Information Security Analyst, to find out what he enjoys about his role at bet365.

What do you do at bet365?

I work in the Network Security Team as an Information Security Analyst. My team is part of the Information Security side of the company and is the technical arm of the security side at bet365. We are responsible for the technical posture of the bet365 security, we suggest and implement security solutions for the business, as well as acting (proactively) and reacting to incidents in our internal network.

What do you enjoy about your current role?

The versatility that my role offers when it comes to information security, we use a lot of technology in a variety of different fields. It is exciting and interesting and never gets boring. We have a healthy corporate environment and I am allowed to do my job with little interruptions.

What made you choose bet365?

When I arrived in the UK, I knew I wanted to live in the area and bet365 came up as an employer that offered some great opportunities. I was fortunate enough to have multiple job offers but I accepted bet365 due to the clarity that that the managers provided during the interview process, they showed me that I was entering a mature team that had a clear vision for the role and team.

What are you career aspirations?

I have been at bet365 for 2 and a half years now and they offer many opportunities not just in my team but in the wider business, my managers are supportive when it comes to my progression. Personally I would like to get better in the technical part of my role and bet365 offers that.

What advice would you give to someone who is joining bet365?

I would say to pace themselves and give themselves time to understand the business and the environment. We have our own identity and way of working, which has proven to be good as what we do works and it also gives people the freedom to learn more in their role.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

I would not say a personal achievement as we always work as a team, we do so may changes so fast that we all work together to complete tasks effectively as a team. If you look back at the architecture of the business it was so different and we have changed and adapted that in order to become more effective and successful. I would say the feeling of constant change and improvement of how things work security wise in the company is an achievement.

Would you recommend bet365 – if so why?

Absolutely – one of the main reasons is the healthy environment. There are also a number of training and learning opportunities – I personally have become a better information security professional during my time in bet365.
