When it comes to leadership development, none come close to our services academies. Today our Seton Hall University Future of Leadership Survey team - Dr. Karen Boroff, Professor Anthony W. Caputo and I had the opportunity to share the results of our study, now in its 4th year, with the faculty at #USMA, West Point. Thank you, LTC Russell Lemler for graciously hosting our team and for an excellent discussion on what it means to be a leader, leadership, aspirations and expectations of the emerging leaders, and how to develop future leaders. Looking forward to continuing the conversation and exploring collaboration opportunities.

For the Year 3: Leading in the Discipline I course for the Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University, my teammates and I decided to focus on producing a podcast episode on the topic of the environmental and leadership implications of the Palestine-Israel conflict. After a semester of overcoming various obstacles, I am proud to announce that the episode is now live! We were honored to be joined by Environmental Anthropologist and Professor Dr. Jacob Weger and Diplomacy and International Relations Professor Dr. R. Joseph Huddleston. Their insights provided a comprehensive exploration of how environmental issues interact with the challenges of conflict in this region. This was my first time working in a podcast setting, and with my team- Patricia Salib, Kaila Engle, Anna Thibodeau, and Christian Almestica- we successfully produced and launched the episode! Through this experience, we created an engaging environment that promoted balanced discussion and critical thinking, which also enhanced my leadership skills, adaptability, and confidence in tackling complex projects. The #Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University presents #Ideas & Trends (2024) project, an experiential learning exercise focused on how to lead through ambiguity and uncertainty. Established in the 2008/09 academic year, Ideas & Trends has provided several generations of Buccino Leadership students with an intense experience integral to their leadership development. This is not an academic exercise; students unlearn how they have solved problems in the past and relearn how to approach ambiguous problems in an uncertain environment. This year three interdisciplinary teams, each with 18-25 members, were presented with an idea or trend; Digital twins, Nanotechnology and Neurotechnology. Students used #Adobe Creative Cloud to create portfolios highlighting their insights and learnings. Congratulations to our second year students for a job well done, and we invite you to explore their work.

I am thrilled to share that yesterday, I officially earned the privilege to step on the Seton Hall University seal by graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S in Diplomacy and International Relations and minors in Spanish and Journalism. I additionally graduated from the Seton Hall Honors Program and received a Certificate in Leadership from the Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University. I have so many people to thank for an absolutely incredible 4 years - the world-class facualty at the Seton Hall School of Diplomacy and International Relations, whose mentorship and guidance have expanded my world view and helped me develop skills that will send me far beyond college; my fellow editors at The Diplomatic Envoy, for trusting me to lead this past year, showing me grace when I made mistakes, and sharing my passion and enthusiasm for this incredible organization (which I love so much, it earned the dedication of my grad cap); and most importantly, my incredible family and amazing group of friends who have become family over the past 4 years. I am immensely grateful to this school for shaping me into the person that I am today, and I am so excited to continue to be a Pirate for life. Hazard zet forward!! With that being said, I am so excited to take all that I have learned at Seton Hall into my next chapter! After graduation, I will be returning home to PA and working as an Immigration Paralegal with Church World Service in Lancaster, PA. I am ecstatic to take all that I have learned at Seton Hall into this new role and fulfill a dream started in high school to pursue a career in immigration law. Thanks to Griffin Durling and the entire team at CWS Lancaster for your guidance during the interview process - I am so excited to work with you!

I am immensely honored to have graduated from the esteemed Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University! Throughout my four-year tenure in the program, I have strengthened my leadership skills and applied them to practical, real-world projects and initiatives. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Elizabeth Halpin, Barbara Callahan, Christopher Kaiser and Stanton Brown for their invaluable guidance and mentorship during this transformative journey. I am looking forward to utilizing the skills and knowledge acquired during this program as I embark on the next phase of my professional path!

This past semester, the freshmen students from the Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University further learned to lead themselves with Scott Chesney's Journey of Self-Discovery series. During this five-week experiential learning opportunity, our freshmen students focused on how to 1.   Make peace with the past, 2.   Launch powerful and transformational intentions for the future, 3.   To live and be as fully present as possible in each and every moment. On Friday, April 19th, our recent workshop for Buccino Leadership students was an incredible success! We thank Gerald Buccino, a visionary behind the Stillman School of Business Gerald P. Buccino ’63 Center for Leadership Development, which has expanded into our University-wide Buccino Leadership Institute, for speaking to our students and moderating our panel event. The Buccino Leadership Institute partnered with The Jack and Jill of America Essex Hudson Chapter last Saturday to interview the Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka. Jack and Jill of America is committed to fostering the growth of upcoming African-American leaders. They achieve this by empowering children through activities that enhance leadership skills, engage in volunteer work, promote charitable giving, and encourage active participation in community responsibilities. During the event, participants delved into key learning objectives, including defining leadership, grasping civic engagement, uncovering the duties of a mayor, and honing interview skills. Led by the BLI Team, students engaged in lively discussions and interactive activities, gaining valuable insights into these topics. Kaila Engle provided assistance and direction to the students as they navigated the podcast creation process and conducted interviews. Subsequently, they recorded an episode featuring Mayor Baraka.
