  • As technology evolves, researchers are finding new ways to use AI to update their risk prediction strategies. Researchers such as Cleveland Clinic's Shehryar Sheikh, MD, who had an idea for a risk prediction model to help patients with epilepsy using machine learning. Dr. Sheikh says machine learning is an ideal tool to support physicians because it can recognize patterns in complex datasets that may not be visible to physicians.  More than 20 million people worldwide suffer from uncontrolled seizures caused by Drug Resistant Epilepsy. Surgical resection of the epileptic brain tissue is the gold standard therapy to permanently stop seizures, but only half of the patients who receive the procedure will be free from seizures in the long-term. Learn how Dr. Sheikh and team are trying to close this gap by using machine learning to generate a new model to discover what factors are most likely to predict which patients will remain seizure free after surgery: https://lnkd.in/dfnWiuJu #clevelandclinic #innovation #machinelearning #AI

  • We're excited to share that Cleveland Clinic is expanding care in Nevada through the addition of concierge medicine and executive health. Additional service lines focused on comprehensive and preventive care will offer Nevadans new healthcare options beginning in 2025.   We established our presence in Nevada 15 years ago through our flagship neurological program inside the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. As we looked for ways to increase our services to Nevadans, we wanted to do so in a way that is meaningful to the community. Our expansion into concierge medicine and executive health aligns with Nevada’s rapidly growing population and increased demand for care.   The additional service lines are part of our Primary Care Institute. These services will grow the health system’s physical footprint in southern Nevada with both clinical practices located inside Evora, a mixed-use development space, conveniently located in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley.   Concierge medicine offers a highly personalized health assessment and ongoing primary care, including: physician communication available 24 hours a day, longer visit times than traditional primary care appointments, personalized treatment plans based on medical history and lifestyle, and access to top specialists in the Las Vegas community and throughout our health system, with coordinated care managed by a primary care physician.    Our concierge medicine program is a global network with more than 2,000 patients in its care across existing locations in Abu Dhabi, Florida, London and Toronto. The expansion into Nevada is part of a domestic rollout of the program, with additional locations also planned in Florida and Ohio.  Learn more: https://cle.clinic/4hsiZiT #clevelandclinic
