National Disability Employment Awareness Month’s Influence on the Federal Workforce As we continue to celebrate #NDEAM, let’s take a closer look at how this observance has shaped the federal workforce. Over the years, NDEAM has played a crucial role in promoting policies that support the hiring and advancement of individuals with disabilities in federal agencies. According to recent data, the federal government employed over 135,000 individuals with disabilities in FY2023, representing nearly 12% of the total federal workforce. These numbers reflect the commitment to creating a more inclusive environment where everyone’s skills are valued. Agencies like the U.S. Department of Labor and the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) have been instrumental in driving these changes. Want to dive deeper?
