This week, the Museum of Science debuted our newest Earthshot exhibit: "Innovation: Earth," an immersive, interactive experience that shines a light on the ways we’ll live, move, eat, and work in a carbon-neutral world. It's an all-ages experience that offers hope, optimism for the future, and, above all, fun.

Things are never what they seem. How much more can we learn when we look through the eyes of someone with a different lived experience? And so it has been this month at the Museum during Disability Pride Month. Thanks to Sylvie Rosenkalt for inspiring us to celebrate this month.

Today we celebrate World Youth Skills Day (WYSD). Created by the United Nations in 2014, WYSD celebrates “the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.” This year’s theme is peace and development, a nod to the many challenges our society faces. Although we at YES and EiE - Museum of Science, Boston focus on STEM education, the skills we champion for students to learn are rooted in equity and empowering them to be their best critical-thinking and problem-solving selves. Those skills are transferable outside the classroom and essential for our society. As is thinking about our world in a sustainable context--something the Museum of Science and the UN have in common. One of the ways we help prepare youth with the skills they need is to provide free high-quality STEM education curricula for their teachers. Another is by advocating for both students and teachers, as our Founding Director, Dr. Christine Cunningham did recently in Scientific American.
