🗣️ #EUmiesAwardsTalks | Gustav Düsing: Study Pavilion TU Braunschweig This February, Gustav Düsing will present the winning project Study Pavilion TU Braunschweig in a series of talks at University of Virginia School of Architecture. An initiative part of a collaboration in which recipients of the Thomas Jefferson Medal in Architecture and the #EUmiesAwards will be invited to share their insights through lectures and discussions at two renowned venues: University of Virginia School of Architecture (set in the UNESCO World Heritage Academical Village), and the Barcelona Pavilion (originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929), respectively. → Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was the first recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Medal in Architecture in 1966. EXHIBITION IN PRAGUE 🇨🇿 | The CAMP - Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning will be the next venue for the traveling exhibition of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards 2024, in #Prague, under the title 'Europas Beste Bauten', following its display in Madrid and Vienna. Organized by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and Creative Europe, the exhibition showcases the 362 nominated works for this edition, creating an impressive cartography of the best European architecture from the past two years. It highlights the 40 shortlisted works selected by the jury and presents more detailed and extensive information about the winners and finalists. These works span 38 European countries, 125 regions, and 240 locations, #mapping the #EUmiesAwards2024 from the frozen landscapes of Greenland to a subtropical banana plantation in the Canary Islands. Among the works there is the finalist Plato Contemporary Art Gallery in Ostrava by KWK Promes, along with eight other works built in Czechia. 📢 Calling all architecture schools to participate in #YoungTalent2025 by 29 January, 2025. The EUmies Awards Young Talent 2025 aims to support the talent of recently graduated architects, #urban planners, and #landscape architects, who will be responsible for transforming our environment in the future. This call aims at architecture, urban planning, and landscape architecture schools across all Creative Europe countries to nominate projects. 📌 Procedure: ➝ Nominations are free and can only be made by schools by 29 January 2025. ➝ Open to qualifying master’s projects in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning from Creative Europe Programme countries, completed between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2024. ➝ Authors must submit their projects by February 2025. ➝ The shortlist will be announced in April 2025, finalists in May 2025, and their works will be exhibited at Biennale Architettura 2025 in Venice. ➝ The winners’ announcement will be held in June 2025 during the EUmies Awards Day in Venice. All nominated designs by schools will be published online and in a catalogue, and will become part of the EUmies Awards archive as recognition of their authors and the schools.
