Gore’s high flex flat cables played a pivotal role in the historic detection of gravitational waves by astrophysicists in Italy and the U.S., earning them the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics. These cables were initially developed for the semiconductor industry. The cables do not emit gases that condense and contaminate the sensitive measuring instruments in an ultra-high vacuum environment. They are also able to reduce the acoustic transmission of seismic noise that can hinder the detection of gravitational waves. Delve into the details of this remarkable synergy from the article: https://lnkd.in/giUPSKjR #GoreCable #HighFlexFlatCables #Innovation #TogetherImprovingLife

Have you thought about TCO—the total cost of ownership throughout the cable selection process for your environment? For products that will be used in harsh environments, the consequences of the cable system being compromised or failing are usually high, and the total cost of ownership includes much more than the initial cost to purchase the cable. Total costs should include installation, maintenance, and replacement costs; manufacturing downtime and losses due to defect products; and most of all, safety issues. Download the white paper to get a deeper understanding of the factors that drive TCO analysis and the systematic approach on cable design selection: https://lnkd.in/gYUqWdhw #GoreSemiconductor #GoreInsights #CableSystems #CableSelection #TCO

The second phase of designing a cable system is verifying that it is fit for its intended application. Most manufacturers perform some level of electrical testing so your basic electrical requirements can be checked against the specifications. Some industries have defined safety, environmental, and performance-related standards for cables, but many applications in harsh environments will require you to go beyond the standard level of verification. To avoid cable failure in harsh environments, it is necessary for you to work with the manufacturer to develop tests that evaluate electrical performance while simulating mechanical and environmental stress similar to that in your application. Learn more about best practices with sample applications in harsh environments here: https://lnkd.in/gYUqWdhw #GoreSemiconductor #CableSystems #CableSelection #CableTest

Looking for reliable performance and signal integrity from the cable system for your application? It is crucial to choose the right materials for cable insulation and jacketing when designing a cable system. Ensuring high-quality signal integrity means evaluating the insulation and jacket materials for attributes that account for the harsh elements of your application. The dielectric materials used in signaling cables affect the signal integrity as well as robustness of the cable. It is wise to work with a manufacturer who has extensive expertise in a variety of cable materials, harsh environments, and your specific industry. Check out the variety of materials used in cable insulation and jacketing and their attributes from our white paper: https://lnkd.in/gYUqWdhw #GoreSemiconductor #GoreInsights #CableSystems #CableSelection

Environments where cable systems operate are becoming more and more challenging. Whether for cleanroom, oil exploration, aircraft or even spacecraft, exposure to chemicals, extreme temperature and operational strain means cable systems need to be designed and tested to verify that the cable will fit for the intended application. Once you have identified the operating and environmental constraints that may impact cable performance, Step Two is to design the cable system. This process involves selecting the right materials for cable construction and design validation testing. It is critical to select a manufacturer that understands the challenges of your industry and your application. At Gore, we have a core value that we call ‘fitness for use,’ which means that our products do what we say they do. Therefore, we have developed state-of-the-art labs around the world where we test the electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance of cable systems.
