On January 15, Gulf Sustain’s UAE-based consultant, Marian Fletcher, hosted a fireside chat at the World Future Energy Summit on the topic of ‘Building the Youth Business Voice'. 📢   Kevin Holliday (C3) and Yasmin AlShaikh (Al Futtaim) joined the discussion to explore how young entrepreneurs can drive sustainable change. They highlighted the importance of youth leadership in corporate sustainability, from influencing boardrooms to balancing purpose and profit. The conversation also touched on empowering young professionals and amplifying their voices in decision-making. Looking back to the CSR Summit 2024, held from 30 April to 2 May at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha, where #GulfSustain participated in a panel facilitated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Emerging Practices for Building a Responsible Business Conduct-Ready National Ecosystem. The discussion explored the link between Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and attracting investments aligned with Qatar’s National Vision. IHRB's Julia Borgianni-Batho also contributed to conversations on the challenges and opportunities businesses face in light of Qatar's economic diversification efforts and recent European legislative developments, including the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD). In June 2024, the #GulfSustain team participated in a panel discussion on Responsible Recruitment: Understanding and Managing Regional Complexities at the Global Forum for Responsible Recruitment in London. The session examined how company operations can be impacted across regions such as Myanmar, Taiwan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), highlighting the need for enhanced due diligence to safeguard both business interests and workforce well-being.
