Women between the ages of 25-54 earned $217/week less than their male counterparts in 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, or roughly 83 cents for every dollar earned by a man last year, and the gap is wider for women of color and/or working mothers. While the long-term trend does show progress, the gap is now the highest it has been since 2019. #GenderPay #HiringLab #Compensation https://lnkd.in/gjWpDb_C

New research from #HiringLab shows the share of US job postings mentioning neurodiversity-related keywords has nearly tripled over the past half dozen years, rising from roughly 0.5% of all postings as of January 2018 to 1.3% by December 2024. A host of care roles related to treating or caring for neurodiverse individuals represent the bulk of postings mentioning neurodiversity, but growth is also evident among several decidedly non-care-related roles — especially in engineering. #Indeed #HiringLab #Jobs #Neurodiversity #LaborMarket https://lnkd.in/gukRjn-E

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, US job openings rose to 7.7 million in January, up modestly from 7.5 million in December. Meanwhile, the number and rate of hires was unchanged in January, at 5.4 million and 3.4%, respectively. However, the backward-looking data in the January JOLTS report may not adequately capture the impacts of more recent volatility and policy changes that occurred in February and early March. 🇨🇦 February’s Canadian Labour Force Survey showed the labour market’s recent uptick cooled in February, though it’s unlikely the prospective trade war directly caused the pause in job growth. Employment in the highly exposed manufacturing industry ticked down slightly, in line with most other sectors, while overall layoffs remained low, helping to keep the unemployment rate steady at 6.6%. For now, we’re experiencing typical month-to-month volatility in the Labour Force Survey. #Indeed #HiringLab #LabourMarket #Economy #Jobs https://lnkd.in/g26NUPqT

The February jobs day statement showed the US labor market notched another month of decent job gains and low unemployment, despite mounting economic and geopolitical uncertainty. Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 151,000, and the unemployment rate ticked up slightly to 4.1%. Federal employment officially fell by 10,000 workers, but the total number was likely higher, since data collection happened relatively early in February. Private-sector job gains were broad-based, with 58% of non-government employers adding jobs in February. #Indeed #HiringLab #LaborMarket #Jobs https://lnkd.in/gVGWZ35M

New Hiring Lab research shows US job seekers enter 2025 with optimism despite little movement in the overall number of #jobs actually available. The level of job searches fell by 32% between Dec. 10 and Christmas Day as job seekers turned their attention away from the job market and toward holiday festivities. However, job seekers began returning to the search bar by Jan. 3, and by Jan. 29, job search volume had rebounded to 22% above Dec. 10 levels. This year’s New Year’s jump in search activity was on par with the past few years. 🔗 ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gh9_yPu4 #Indeed #HiringLab #LaborMarket
