About us
The Magnetar Capital Foundation is a charitable organization established in 2011 by Magnetar Capital to support youth financial literacy education. In 2016, we partnered with University of Chicago to establish The Magnetar Capital UChicago Financial Education Initiative – a collective aimed at developing the tools, resources and capacity to scale financial education across America. finEDge – an innovative high school financial literacy curriculum – is a product of this Initiative and now taught in high schools across 10 states. Magnetar Academy, our original curriculum, was successful across Chicago-land, reaching more than 16,000 high school students in 700 Chicago-area classrooms. Each year, the Magnetar Capital Foundation hosts the Magnetar Team Challenge – a mock stock trading competition and “capstone” event for students going through this financial literacy curriculum.
