We love seeing the amazing things our alumni accomplish after graduation, and Kathryn Monahan '23 is no exception.   Katie, a double major in Politics and Psychology with a minor in International Relations, served as chair of the Communications Committee at NHIOP for the Kevin B. Harrington Student Ambassador Program during her time at Saint Anselm College.   She has carried her experience with her all the way to Capitol Hill, where she now works as a communications assistant for Congressman Ro Khanna, D-CA.   In her daily routine, she drafts and edits social media content, speeches, and quotes, while also assisting the congressman during interviews.   As for living in D.C., Katie loves it. “I would totally recommend it to anyone who is interested in getting more involved in politics in any capacity,” she says. “Since being here, I have been able to work at a lobbying firm, at CNN, and on the Hill. It has been incredible being able to have a front row seat to everything, especially during this past election season.”   Katie attributes her success to the networks and alumni associations the NHIOP offered, noting the strong foundation she received with her internship at WMUR, which she describes as “an invaluable experience.”   We can’t wait to see everything that you do in the future, Katie!

Current students may apply now to begin classes for the spring 2025 semester — with applications due by Nov. 1 With a graduate degree in public policy, students can find themselves in a range of career outcomes from a community development coordinator to an education policy specialist to a legislator. Join us for the symposium "Pope Francis: Theology and Global Policy in the 21st Century" on October 18, 2024, in the Institute's West Wing at Saint Anselm College Co-hosted by the Center for the Study of Religion and Public Life and the Politics Department, this event will explore Pope Francis's influence on global affairs and the relationship between theology and politics.
