Is winning selfish? Sometimes, being selfish is necessary. When you're dedicated to your passion, people may not understand your drive—and that's ok. Keep pushing, keep creating. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for chasing your dreams. Massiel Diez Rory Nolan

Pixar's storytelling framework has helped them earn over $15 billion at the box office. Thanks to two key elements: Simplicity and conflict. A simple idea, like "Toy Story" (toys fearing abandonment) or "Finding Nemo" (a sheltered fish seeks adventure but gets lost) allows audiences to quickly connect. The simpler the message is, the better. But, There is NO STORY WITHOUT CONFLICT. - Every great story has challenges. - What obstacles do your characters face? - This tension keeps your audience hooked. How can YOU apply this? 1. Start with a clear idea. 2. Build tension through conflict. 3. Share the good, the bad, and the ugly in your story. Give your audience a reason to care, and they will build an emotional connection to your narrative. Karla E. Not Your Story

Why start a podcast in 2024? Six months ago, we launched Not Your Story podcast focused on helping YOU tell great stories. The reasons why we launched wasn’t only to build our culture and humanize our brand. It has allowed us to experiment and A/B test our own content. We have turned the podcast into a content engine. By slicing our long-form conversations into short, engaging pieces, we've built a strategy that spans multiple content platforms. Amassing hundreds of thousands of impressions and brand awareness. We've connected through storytelling, offering valuable lessons and showcasing the human side behind brands. Starting a podcast is a space to experiment, test, and discover what clicks with your listeners. Here’s how YOU can start: 1. Define your podcast’s purpose and audience. 2. Focus on storytelling—bring in the human element. 3. Repurpose episodes across platforms for maximum reach. 4. Engage, listen to feedback, and adjust your approach. 5. Use A/B testing to refine and improve. Ready to start your podcast? Take the leap, experiment, and grow your community—one episode at a time. What’s the value of a liberal arts education? Fun fact, a third of Fortune 500 CEOs have liberal arts degrees. (it's not a throw away degree for everyone) Recently, I spoke with Jeff Bernard about his liberal arts background on Not Your Story. He shared how studying advertising gave him a unique edge in tech and building technology. That flexibility in thinking helped him build innovative products in his role at Aerion. Personally, studying liberal arts sharpened my communication skills and enabled me to convey complex ideas clearly. Communication, adaptability, and creative thinking are essential for success whatever the industry. Search 'Not Your Story' on Youtube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts to listen to the full episode.
