🧡 We’re endlessly grateful for the peace and joy the High Line brings to our lives. 💬 “I feel rezoning will be detrimental not just for the community but also to the many visitors to the High Line. In today's world, having relaxing spaces is so important to our mental health.” 📝 Help us preserve the magic of our park: https://buff.ly/4bVjNZq

🏗️ The new rezoning plan affecting the High Line falls short—there are 2,000 fewer housing units than the original zoning plan. Our community’s push for new housing in the 2009 plan has been cast aside in favor of high-rise commercial space. Join our fight for our community: https://buff.ly/4bVjNZq

📝 The future of the High Line is once again under threat, and executive director Alan van Capelle is setting the record straight to #ProtectTheHighLine. His recent op-ed in the New York Daily News outlines why—while we support development of the Western Rail Yards in a way that supports the needs of the community and the High line—the newly proposed development plan is gravely threatening both our park and our community's interests. Alan, who is a former union organizer with the building services union, also does some critical myth-busting around the proposal and our opposition of it, reinforcing our support of community-minded development and union labor: "The developers’ plan is wildly unpopular in the community—because of design choices that advance a limited private agenda rather than provide public benefits. As a result, it is proceeding into a maelstrom of political risk. With better design choices, it could be moving quickly toward breaking ground on public-spirited development already allowed by the 2009 zoning. These unions want the city to reap the benefit of thousands of good new jobs required to develop the site. So do we. We want these union workers to get to work, supporting the growth of our community and city." Want to join us in the fight to #ProtectTheHighLine?
