The world lost a bright light today. Bill Walton created hope in every room he walked into, and we will be eternally grateful for all he did to make the world a better place. In 2012, Bill graced the stage of the Creating Hope luncheon and inspired friends of Providence Cancer Institute - Oregon to support immunotherapy research. He believed - like so many - that research is the key to finishing cancer. Our thoughts are with his family and all who loved him. Thank you, Bill. Rest in peace.

  • Children with special needs who receive care at Providence will benefit from $50,000 of love, thanks to a gift from CARR Subaru Beaverton and Subaru of America, Inc. The gift was the result of Subaru’s “Share the Love” event, which donated $250 to charity for each new vehicle purchased or leased. Providence Children’s Health was one of the charities featured that helps support the Center for Medically Fragile Children, Providence Children’s Development Institute and Swindells Resource Center. “We’re committed to giving each of those children a strong start,” said Brad Preble, president of Carr Auto Group. “Carr Subaru and Providence lead joint values to meet children and their families on their medical care journey for a healthier community tomorrow.” The check from Carr Subaru and Subaru of America will support programs and services that offer vital medical care to our youngest, most vulnerable patients and their families. This is the 10th year Carr Subaru has named Providence Children’s Health as its local charity, bringing its total contribution to nearly $830,000.

  • Providence Announces $177 Million Investment to Tackle Portland’s Most Urgent Health Care Challenges: We are happy to announce Providence Foundation’s ambitious capital campaign — Tomorrow Starts Today — to re-imagine emergency and critical cardiac care across Portland. These projects at Providence Portland Medical Center and @[116129008407169:Providence St. Vincent Medical Center], including Providence Heart Institute, will enable better, faster care for more people like you, thanks to the power of philanthropy. This campaign comes at an urgent time for Portland health care: our population is growing and aging with more complex conditions. These new facilities will expand capacity by 25% – 50,000 more emergency visits annually across our Portland facilities…the equivalent of a new emergency room for our city! – and enhance safety and speed of care, including those who may spend weeks or even months in the cardiac intensive care unit. Learn more about the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/gBVKjZ3P and help Providence create a brighter health care future for our city. Together, we can build a better tomorrow, today. #TomorrowStartsToday #ProgressThroughPhilanthropy #HealthforaBetterWorld

  • We ❤️ you! In honor of the 3rd anniversary of Providence's heart transplant program, patients and their families reunited with Providence caregivers from our heart failure program to celebrate with heart! It was a day of wonderful re-connections, shared stories, delicious treats, and joyous music to honor all who've survived great odds and are thriving today thanks to the teams at Providence Heart Institute and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Thank you to all who have supported cardiovascular care at Providence. Every dollar makes a difference, including generous gifts from Phil and Penny Knight, which allowed Providence Heart Institute to restart its heart transplant program three years ago. Today, Providence is the largest program in the Pacific Northwest, offering the most cardiac services between Seattle and San Francisco. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/gYCieSH8
