The Puyallup School District's Bond Advisory Committee (BAC) continues addressing overcrowding in the district’s schools, focusing on the urgent capacity issues at Rogers and Puyallup High Schools. At the October 10 meeting, Joseph Romero, Puyallup School Board President, thanked committee members for their dedication to improving the future of education and highlighted the importance of ongoing community involvement. Both schools face significant overcrowding, outdated facilities, and infrastructure challenges that must be addressed to accommodate the district's growing student population. The BAC is considering multi-phase expansion and modernization plans for each campus to solve these issues. Rogers High School has 384 students over its built permanent capacity and would see multi-story additions that provide new science labs, Career and Technical Education (CTE) spaces, and upgraded athletic facilities. Meanwhile, Puyallup High School’s urban location presents unique challenges. Plans include constructing a new three-story building to replace outdated structures and creating modern learning spaces. The BAC is committed to gathering community feedback and ensuring thoughtful, financially responsible decisions that prepare the district for future enrollment growth.
