🚨 New Report Alert! Concawe and S&P Global Commodity Insights conducted a comprehensive study titled ‘’Study on the potential evolution of Refining and Liquid Fuels production in Europe’’ to examine the possible implications of achieving EU’s #netzero emissions targets by 2050 on the refining industry. The study evaluates the impact on the refining and fuel manufacturing industrial assets of two hypothetical scenarios which both meet the net zero GHG emission objective by 2050 in the EU27, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Both scenarios share a common basis for the transition of most economic sectors but differ on the decarbonization pathway of the transport sector: 1) The Max Electron Scenario: this scenario satisfies the Fit for 55 targets while surpassing the Heavy-Duty Vehicles CO2 standards - by assuming zero Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) vehicle sales after 2035 and unprecedented electrification across various modes of transportation. 2) The More Molecule Scenario: this scenario aims for net-zero by 2050 by combining electrification with increased use of #lowcarbon fuels, allowing some ICE vehicle sales post-2035 and deferring aviation/marine electrification to post-2050. The report provides EU and national policymakers with a deeper understanding of the risks and opportunities of the energy transition on the EU refining industry enabling them to take measures for a smooth and value-added transition, without disrupting fuels supply security. 👉 You can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dpbsqA2a

President Donald Trump’s assertion that resource extraction by US companies can strengthen Ukraine’s sovereignty will have a familiar ring for oil-rich ex-Soviet Kazakhstan. But the Caspian country’s own experience suggests resources are a fragile underpinning. More from Nick Coleman: https://okt.to/Cd0puY
