Next week, VEDP is hosting seven Virginia companies at Africa Endeavor with U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Livingstone, Zambia from July 29 – 31, 2024. Africa Endeavor is U.S. Africa Command’s annual senior leader communication symposium focused on discussing opportunities to improve training and workforce development for armed forces’ communication capabilities. This exposition is designed for industry exhibitors to showcase the latest emerging technologies. This event provides opportunities to network with senior communicators from across Africa and USAFRICOM. It is expected that 150 participants from over 40 African nations, USAFRICOM, and international organizations will be participating in this event. The audience is primarily decision-makers at the 05, 06, and flag officer levels. July 25th is #NationalInternDay! The Virginia Global Business Internship Program is in its second year and VEDP International Trade is currently partnering with 15 companies to host 17 interns from Virginia universities to work on projects in international business development. With the support of Aaron Miller and Virginia SBDC, students also attend educational workshops around NASBITE International's Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) credential, and other relevant professional topics to provide a cohesive experience. Communicative mentors, meaningful projects, a supportive peer cohort, and exposure to the many moving parts of global business will certainly set these future professionals up for success!

VALET week continued yesterday as we graduated 11 companies from the program. They put in tremendous effort over the last two years to accelerate their international sales and it certainly paid off! On average these companies experienced 133% export since starting the program. Way to go!!! It’s VALET week at VEDP International Trade! Yesterday, as we do every six months, we welcomed 14 companies to the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. Over the next two years, we will equip these companies with a comprehensive set of resources designed to assist them in going after international sales proactively - ongoing consulting from a dedicated program manager to develop and implement an international sales strategy, customized market research, VEDP-facilitated travel to market to meet new customers, access to a network of service providers able to assist with the individual elements of exporting, and $35,000 to reimburse them for export-related expenses. We are so proud of our incoming VALET companies for prioritizing their global growth and thankful to them for entrusting us to be their partner in these efforts. Welcome to the VALET family!
