XLR Connector Wiring

Various Musical Fidelity products are equipped with XLR connectors offering balanced audio inputs and / or outputs.

XLR pin outs 

Since approx. 2000 these connections adhere to the EIA RS-297-A standards and are configured as follows:

Pin functions:

  • Pin 1 - Ground (cable shield)
  • Pin 2 - Normal polarity ("hot" or “+”)
  • Pin 3 - Inverted polarity ("cold" or “-“)
