About this mod

A replacer for all ambient music in-game that more fits the desolate, harrowing environment of post-apocalyptic Boston with glimmers of hope and refuge.

this mod.  I love hearing from users of my work!

UPDATE:  You can now listen to Lost World and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. music simultaneously in the same playthrough.  They pair together perfectly!  Check our 4estGimp's merge here to do so:  4estGimp - Lost World and STALKER merged music

Lost World is a soundtrack replacer I spent the entirety of 2020 composing as my first major project into music composition.  It became a perfect marriage between my passion for music and my passion for modding Fallout 4.  With this I present a soundtrack that I feel is hopefully more fitting to a more dark, brooding interpretation of the Commonwealth for those who play with mods that make the game more akin to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and less sunshines and rainbows.  The focus is on providing a consistent soundscape that hopefully captures more of a feeling of desolation and loneliness with moments of reprieve when safe havens and other special locations are found.  Over 75 minutes across 30 tracks were composed to cover all the base game music!

This does NOT cover combat music, but all other full music tracks should be covered with this (apart from brief stingers and cues which are vanilla).  For combat music I recommend checking out my combat music mod Distortion which will provide a more consistent soundtrack than vanilla combat music (though I did not compose Distortion to be tonally similar to Lost World and it may be a bit too intense for your tastes) OR use Dynamic Music Overhaul and choose the Ambient option in the installer to have music from Lost World play continuously without constant annoying interruption from combat music.

For a more consistent audio experience, I HIGHLY recommend my companion mod ScreamingLake Soundscapes (namely the Dark, Brooding Full Set main file) which I created to complement this soundtrack replacer.  It replaces certain audio cues, UI sounds, and special music tracks to provide a thematic tone that is more in line with this soundtrack (though it can be enjoyed standalone as well!).

I typically play with the music slider at about 75% or 3/4 through the in-game audio settings menu and that seems to be the most consistently balanced audio level for most music mods I've tried, so I balanced the tracks to sound consistent mainly around that volume level.  Feel free to turn the audio settings for music up or down as needed (some may have to be reminded this feature exists) but also let me know in the Posts if any tracks sound too loud/quiet compared to others!

How to Install

It's 2022.  Use a mod manager to install this mod like any other (Vortex or Mod Organizer 2).

If you want to use this mod standalone, download and install the main file.  If you want to use Music Mods Merged so you can hear this music alongside many others, use the OPTIONAL FILE!

Ensure these lines are present in your Fallout4.ini file so that your game can load loose files.

If you are using ScreamingLake Soundscapes and Distortion, I recommend loading them in the following order:

Lost World
ScreamingLake Soundscapes
Distortion

Load these audio mods LOW in your load order so nothing else is overwriting them and do not use multiple mods that replace the same audio elements as these mods or you may experience unwanted issues/conflicts!
