Changelogs

Doctor Quench Soda Company 2022 re-adds a bold new taste to your Commonwealth. Enjoy 18 exclusive drinks designed and created by Dr. Quench herself. In addition, listen to 60+ new songs and ads from various Pre-War artists including the voice of Dr. Quench.

As described above, this mod is adds two major components: a new Fallout lore-friendly radio station and a series new wasteland sodas under the Dr. Quench brand. The radio station features 60+ soundtracks, commercials and additional voice work by Dr. Quench. The list of sodas currently feature 18 different flavors with crafting recipes. They have been added to leveled lists so you'll be able to come across them during your travels as well.
What's new in 2022?
Doctor Quench Soda Company 2022 is a near complete rebuild of the original "Dr. Quench Nuclear Soda and Radio Station" mod from 2018. What started out as a crusade to squash some bugs in the original mod became a full overhaul including new drinks, textures, file structure, and craftable items. New items and fixes include:
  • 9 new flavors including 7 special edition sodas using Jet4571's mesh as a base
  • Craftable settlement radio tuned to Quench Radio
  • Craftable display shelves for your favorite Quench flavors
  • Craftable vending machine that accepts caps to purchase sodas
  • Two new quench themed grenades
  • Adjusted Quench radio frequency to fix DLC + other radio mod conflicts
  • Overhauled effects and durations to align with in-game consumables
  • Removed recipes from chemistry stations

So, why a separate mod and not update the original? As you mod, you learn better habits and cleaner ways to do things. That is what happened over the course of making adjustments to the original that led to this completely new version. The file structure, assets, and effects were overhauled; updating over the original would result in duplicates as well as conflicts in overlap. Plus, a new re-release sounded fun!

How to Acquire

Once you load the game, simply wait a few days for inventories to reset and you should start seeing the drinks circulated throughout vendors who sell "aid" and "misc" items. The sodas are added directly to Trudy at Drumlin Diner. However, she does not actively sell all higher-end flavors.

Speaking of "high-end," all recipes will be available to you once the game is started. Once you have your first settlement, you can craft the vending machine to and trade caps to access all 18 flavors.

As for Quench Radio, it will be available upon loading the game. It's a completely new radio station and does not override any existing ones. The frequency it uses is unlikely to conflict with any other, but if you come across any, check the "Guide for Tuning in" section.

Display shelves can be found in the misc furniture section of the settlement building menu. Credit goes to Elianora. Without her mod and assets, I would not have gotten these to work. Vending machine can be found in the crafting station section with the Nuka mixing stations.

A Taste of the Local Flavor

Compatibility

While most of the mod is non-intrusive, however, it does affect several Leveled List in order to distribute a few flavor of drinks across the Commonwealth. The affected Leveled Lists are listed below.

  • LLI_Vendor_Drink_NonAlcohol_Basic
  • LLI_Vendor_Drink_NonAlcohol_Rare
  • LLI_Vendor_Drink_NonAlcohol_Unique
  • LLI_Vendor_Drink_Alcohol_Rare
  • LLI_Vendor_Drink_Alcohol_Basic
  • VL_Vendor_General_Drumlin

With that said, you shouldn't have any conflicts with mods that affect roughly the same area, but if you do, a quick merged patch should fix it up. Otherwise, you can load this mod before the conflicting one and simply acquire the drinks through the Doctor Quench craftable vending machine.

Planned Updates

The mod is technically done in its current state; however, I do have some addition commercials being recorded by Dr. Quench's new intern, Fizz. Once recording is complete, they will be added to the radio.

A Few Popular Tracks

Quench Radio is the official Dr. Quench sponsored radio station of the Commonwealth. Tune in to experience a Fallout-Friendly radio station filled with pre-war recordings of popular songs, Vault-Tec commercials and the radio DJ, Dr. Quench herself. There is in total over 75 audio files between meticulously compiled music records, commercials and Quench advertisements. Some tracks you can expect can be found below.

  • 'Beyond the Sea'
  • 'Baby Love'
  • 'The Great Pretender'
  • 'Queen of the Hops'
  • 'Puttin' on the Ritz'
  • 'Runaround Sue'
  • 'Return to Sender'
  • 'Jailhouse Rock'
  • 'After You've Gone'
  • 'Ain't That a Kick in the Head'
  • 'I Wish you Love'
  • 'Swinging From a Star'

This and so much more can be found on Quench Radio, including tracks scavenged from the Mojave Wasteland and a few from the Capitol Wasteland. Don't worry though, most of the tracks are yet to be heard in any part of the wastes so do not expect a simple "previous Fallout soundtracks compilation."

Recipes
Drinks are not longer crafted in the regular sense. They are not "bought" through Quench vending machine settlement station. Each drink costs its value in caps.

Hello all! I'm posting the steps below for changing the frequency for Quench Radio so that it does not conflict with DLC and potentially other mods with radios. Note, it is not 100% avoidable as anyone can potentially use the same frequency, but these steps and recommendation should make it somewhat unlikely. Thanks @AstroGazer for confirming it is doable via FO4Edit which means users will not need to fire up the CK, although that is viable as well.

This is an optional read and only matters if you experience any sort of radio station overlap. The following steps assume you have already downloaded/installed FO4Edit and know how to use its basic functions.
  • Open Fo4Edit
  • When the list of ESMs/ESPs appears, Right-Click and hit "Select None"
  • Thumb through the list and check the box for Doctor Quench Soda Company 2022.esp
  • [Optional] Select any additional ESPs with radio stations; masters for any ESPs you select will also automatically be selected.
  • Click "OK" and wait for FO4Edit to finish loading
  • On the left, expand the following branches: DrQuenchSodaCompany > Worldspace > 0000003C > 0018AA2 Cell > Persistent and click 0200D29C
  • On the right, scroll down and find XRDO - Radio and expand it so that you see Frequency
  • Double click the value/number entered to the right of it. If prompted, click Yes, I am Absolutely Sure
  • In the field for the Frequency, enter a number that does not conflict with any radio frequency and hit Enter
  • Save your change by hitting CTRL+S; be sure to check the box for "Backup ESPs" when saving
If you followed the optional step and want to use your own frequency number for the radio, thumb through the other ESPs to make sure whatever you choose does not conflict with the frequency of other stations.

A huge thank you to, of course, Bethesda and their team for another stellar Fallout experience in addition to releasing mod tools that allow us to do what we do as a community. Also, a big "thank you" to the Nexus itself for hosting such a large community-driven platform to let our creativity shine.

  • A big thank you to Elianora. Without her mod and assets, I would not have the display shelves up and running.
  • Huge shout out to Jet4571, thanks for allowing me to build off your work as well as your help with troubleshooting materials

A final huge thank you to my lovely and talented voice actor, Niomi Young. She also happens to be on Twitch! So, please, click here and give her a follow; if you enjoy, perhaps subscribe! Hop into chat and let her know Dr. Quench sent you! Thank you!

-- Final Word --

Most models and most base textures are property of Bethesda; others belong to the aforementioned authors. Custom labels and materials are mine. Although they are free, I would ask that you seek permission before altering and using them for your own mod if you intend to distribute in any capacity. Be sure to consultant Elianora and Jet4571 if you wish to use their asset. Please, do not upload this mod anywhere else, especially without my permission. Thanks, and God bless!
