Is there a way to turn down or turn off the lightning storms? My game loses all frames. And I even run a beefy computer.

Yeah that was actually caused by a weird oversight, just delete the effect from the weather spell in the GECK or xEdit, it'll be fixed when I have time to update.

Is this safe to use with separate game saves? I use Vortex, and I like to make different profiles for different playthroughs. Since this is installed into the game manually, does that mean it will f*#@ up my other playthroughs?

Probably. You can use Mod Organiser 2 to install it in a virtual folder though, that also supports separate saves/ini files.

"since this is a total conversion mod you don't need to use a mod manager. It's all or nothing."
Slightly intimidating, if we are done with the mod will just verifying the games files remove it?

There is actually now a FOMOD option thanks to the efforts of Brooklyn. Should make it a bit less daunting.

      EDIT:

Actually, as of writing this I think it's still uploading. But it will be there.

what's your typical mod list look like when you play this? Specifically, I'm curious whether you use the unofficial fallout patch and whether you use the mod config menu

I don't use any mods besides the unofficial patch. I have to test this mod on its own to make sure that any bugs I encounter belongs to my own mod.
  5. Some Sort of Installation Guide perhaps?

I have followed all the usual instructions of installation for a mod I could find:

Downloaded the Data, Assets, Sounds, and Update.

Put all those in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data

    Go to C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

Edited Fallout4.ini [Archive] section and replaced sResourseDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, with
    sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, MATERIALS\, MESHES\, MUSIC\, SCRIPTS\, SOUND\, TEXTURES\, VIDEO

    Edited Fallout4Custom.ini [Archive] section
    bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
    sResourceDataDirsFinal=

    Go to C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Local\Fallout4

created "plugins.txt" because it didn't exist
    populated with:
    Fallout4.esm
    StartMeUp.esp
    StateSecR5.esp

    Edited DLCList.txt:
    StartMeUp.esp
    DLCCoast.esm
    DLCNukaWorld.esm
    DLCRobot.esm
    DLCworkshop01.esm
    DLCworkshop02.esm
    DLCworkshop03.esm
    StateSecR5.esp

Everything I did above was the result of reading the comments on here, reading the nexus mods tutorial and watching a video by IGN on installing Fallout 4 mods.

However, after doing all the above on a fresh install of Fallout 4,

The opening of the game appears to be exactly the same, but once you get to the piece to load back into the surface world on the elevator the game just loads forever. It does appear to load and play ambient sounds I'd never heard before in game but the screen stays black and the loading icon repeats forever.

Did you launch the game one time prior to enabling any mods? You need to do that for all the ini files to be generated.

Moreover, I'm not sure the DLC list looks right. StartMeUp should be below the esm files. That might cause issues assuming it's related to load order.

Worst case, try disabling and then enabling the mods using the Nexus Mod Manager. You don't need to install them, just let NMM make any needed adjustments to the load order stuff. I suspect that's what's causing this.
    2. Ok, so I loaded the mod's in Nexus' Mod Manager (Vortex)

      Installed them

Uninstalled them booted game and shut down

      Reinstalled them

Made sure that in the mod load order Data was being loaded first and the Update was being loaded last.

This time when starting the game the beginning did look different, seeming as though some shaders had changed and the vault tec rep had a different coat on with unique emblems.

Going through the vault part after waking up there is a pistol right away that was new from the mod but I couldn't equip it so I had to use console commands to kill 3 soldiers that had replaced the radroach horde you normally meet down there, each had unique weapons. But still upon trying to exit the vault to the surface world I was caught in an infinite loading screen.

It shouldn't be my hard drive as this is loading of a m.2 solid state drive.

Try using the StartMeUp option for spawning directly into the wasteland. Because each time I tested it I skipped the intro sequence when you run into the vault, that could be the issue. Like I said in the description: I will add a proper start sequence later on, but it takes some time. For now, StartMeUp can resolve this.
    4. THAT WAS THE PROBLEM!

      Thank you so much!

So for those viewing this in the future what I had to do was go through nexus mods and get StartMeUp on its own through their mod manager (vortex).

With that installed the mod loads right away.

Thank you again, both for helping and for creating this mod. I'm really looking forward to playing it.

Yeah I've been gone from the Nexus for a while, I didn't know someone had made an improved version. I'll resolve that at some point. Apologies for the inconvenience, but I'm happy you figured it out.

Does this mod work with other mods? I mostly want to get more old gen guns to make it feel new

Mods that add new guns should work fine.
