A massive increase to the faces available to settlers.

Settlers differ from other groups and factions because they don't actually have a face pool of their own. Instead, settlers draw from a pair of face pools that the game uses whenever it needs to spawn random NPCs who aren't part of a group or faction that has its own dedicated face pool. This includes NPCs from random encounters, various quests, and the like.

Of the two, the primary face pool, called LCharWorkshopNPC, contains 36 faces, all of which are used by settlers. The secondary face pool, called LCharWorkshopGuard, contains a mere 16 faces, but only half are used by settlers. This brings the total to 44 faces available to settlers in a vanilla game, which is fine for a single, low population settlement, but once multiple settlements are populated, duplicate faces are inevitable. Diverse Settlers changes this by increasing both face pools by a significant amount. In particular, LCharWorkshopNPC now contains 1200 faces, while LCharWorkshopGuard contains 200 faces, for a grand total of 1400 faces, all of which are available to your settlers. And they will appear in the wild, too, as the game still calls on those face pools for the various NPC spawns noted above.

In addition, although Vault 88 has its own face pool, it contains only 12 faces, and all of them are from the original 36 noted above. Rather than create a whole new set of faces for it (and a separate Diverse mod), I simply redirected it to call on the Diverse Settlers face pool. Far Harbor, on the other hand, is not connected to the base game face pools, instead having its own pool with its own unique faces and characteristics. That face pool is addressed by Diverse Far Harbor Settlers.

Diverse Settlers Immersion and QoL Pack
Located in the Optional Files section, the Diverse Settlers Immersion and QoL Pack brings some additional variety to settlers. Currently, the file does four things, detailed as follows:

  • Adds height scaling to all settlers, thereby applying more variety to their appearance.
  • Settlers assigned to provisioner duty will open carry their weapons as they travel between settlements.
  • When called by the settlement bell, settlers will run to the bell (rather than walk) under most circumstances.
  • Increases the scavenging station search radius so that assigned settlers will cover more ground within their settlement, even patrolling beyond the settlement borders in the case of the smallest settlements. 

Redundancies
This mod incorporates my recent Bug Fix - Settlers mod, so if you're using Diverse Settlers, you don't need the bug fix mod.

Compatibility
Diverse Settlers is not compatible with other mods that alter or add to the LCharWorkshopNPC and/or LCharWorkshopGuard face pools (or the NPC (Actor) records associated with them, in some cases). See the sticky post in the comment section for details on how I expect to handle compatibility patches.
