💬 INTRODUCTION

This mod adds new fire modes to the Laser Musket and fixes a few issues that were holding it back from being a viable sniper or shotgun. If you like the changes I did here, check out what I did for the rest of the Energy Weapons here.


⚙️ AMMO CONSUMPTION

Full Version
- One Fusion Cell now gets consumed per reload, instead 1 per shot for all energy weapons that use Fusion Cells. Makes sense. This is similar to what JackRob did with Fusion Cells Are Batteries, but he didn't include the Laser Musket. We can all agree, that there's clearly no Fusion Cell being put into the Laser Musket, but I don't think it shouldn't require them at all as other mods have done. It should just consume less than in vanilla and do more damage. I think of it not being shown as more of an oversight.

The energy weapon ammunitions act like Fusion Cores now, unemptied Energy cells get recycled back into your inventory that will get reloaded into the gun after all your full energy cells are used first. So no need for tactical reload and reloading early should be avoided when possible.

Lite Version - doesn't make any ammo changes.

Super Lite - no ammo or sound changes.

Super Duper Lite - only the receiver changes.


⚙️ DAMAGE

Laser Muskets now do 36 damage per crank, upped from 30. Why 36? Well the Lasergun does 24 damage and has 30 shots per Fusion Cell, equaling a total of 720 damage per cell. When you multiply 36 x 20, you also get 720. The legendary Automatic laser musket has 20 shots before it needs to reload, As does the new Continuous Beam Capacitor this mod adds.

Another reason I chose 36 is bc in vanilla, the Laser Musket can do a maximum of 180 damage with the 6 Crank Capacitor. And at 36 per crank, 5 cranks will now get you 180. And I wanted to keep things balanced while introducing the new firing modes, so a 6 Shot Burst now replaces the 6 crank capacitor.


⚙️ NEW FIRING MODES

BURST FIRE MODE
Burst Fire is offered in 3 flavors. As a no science required upgrade between the 2 Crank and 3 Crank Capacitors (3 Crank now requires Science 1), as the previously mentioned 6 Shot Burst in place of the 6 Crank Capacitor, and the alternate Overcranked Capacitor, which offers two 3 shot bursts. Giving you that extra burst without having to reload.

CONTINUOUS LASER BEAM
Crank out a continuous laser beam that does 25% less damage than the Long Barrel, so about 15.6% less than the Short. Fires 20% faster than the Automatic Legendary, but not as fast as burst fire. Shot Capacity is 20.

THE AUTOMATIC LEGENDARY
No longer offers 2.5x damage, as this was severely overpowered and would have been even more op with the damage increase I already added to the base weapon. The whole point to the legendary was to bypass the the crank between every shot and give the Laser Musket 20 shots in the chamber.


⚙️ MUZZLES

For some reason, Bethesda didn't include the Improved versions of the Muzzle attachments for the Laser Muskets. I've added them in.

Instead of 5 beams the Beam Splitter now splits the beam into 9 beams like an actual shotgun with nine pellets or the like the Metal Blaster from FO3. In vanilla, the range was set so low for these modifications that it was literally impossible to do full damage. I've fixed it. The Improved Beam Splitter has a tighter spread. They are good up to about 25 and 40 yards, respectively.

MIXING AND MATCHING
Using the Continuous Beam Capacitor with the Beam Splitter turns the laser musket into a semi-auto shotgun with reduced damage. Using the Burst capacitor with the Beam Splitter gives you either a 3 shot burst with a total of 27 projectiles or a 6 shot burst with 54 projectiles. And obviously the Overcranked
capacitor gives you two 3 shot bursts with 27 laser projectiles each. You can also shorten the bursts by letting go of the trigger early. Have fun!


⚙️ BARRELS

Sniper Barrels
I've added Sniper, Extended, and Bracketed variants. Shot capacity is reduced by 1. Damage is increased by 50%. If you're using the Attachment Pack this gives you a non-extended variant. I have an Attachment Pack Patch available for you as well so you don't end up with 5 Sniper Barrels.

Short & Long Barrels
Short and Long Barrels with no extension now feature a 20% increase to your reload/crank speed, giving you a reason to use them.

Extended Barrels
Non-bracketed barrels now give you an extra 2 damage per crank, giving you a reason to choose it over the bracketed version, which gives you muzzles.


⚙️ CHAMBERS & GEARS

I've updated the Laser Musket to include a new category for customization. Category includes 6 new
attachments, plus the standard attachment.

Beta & Gamma Wave Injectors
Adds the fire damage spells from the Laser Gun capacitors

Gear Trains
Put your Laser Musket in 2nd and 3rd gear with the Gear Train and Improved Gear Train Attachments. Dealing +50% and +75% damage respectively. Slower Crank
speed and -1 to shot capacity. This will also slow down your fire rate for automatic, burst and continuous beam variants.

Small Gears
With small gears, you'll need more cranks to get to full power, however you can crank so much faster now that this isn't an issue. Crank speed is 80% faster, requires double the cranks for full power.

Photonic Resonation Chamber
Yes, I made it lol. The Photonic Resonation Chamber gives you double the cranks with no damage cost.


⚙️ THE SIX-CRANK LASER MUSKET IS BACK!!

I've added the Six-Crank Laser Musket back in as a unique weapon. It can be found at the Sniper's Outpost south-southwest of Gunner's Plaza.

It's supposed to be on the table but it fell off


⚙️ GAMEPLAY

VISUALS
The Laser Musket had a very slow projectile even though it's supposed to be moving at the speed of light. I
sped it up considerably. You can still see the beams travel though.

AUDIO
The sound changes have been removed in 2.0. If you haven't already, check out Energy Weapons Fixed for a more comprehensive energy weapon overhaul.

ACCURACY AND RECOIL
The Laser Musket was supposed to be an early to mid game sniper rifle right? but it had terrible accuracy limiting you to just close range a lot of the time. The accuracy now matches the Lasergun's.

Light doesn't have mass, therefore no recoil. It doesn't matter for the crank options but, for the Automatic Legendary and all the new firing modes you won't have to worry about recoil. The Automatic Legendary has worse accuracy now instead (original Laser Musket accuracy).


⚙️ ATTACHMENT PACK PATCH NOW AVAILABLE

With the addition of the Sniper Barrels, I went ahead and made a  patch for the Attachment pack, so you didn't end up with 5 Sniper Barrels.

💻 INSTALLATION & COMPATABILITY

Works with the Attachment Pack. No patch needed. Any other mod that edits laser musket files is most likely incompatible.
This mod should be loaded before See-Through Scopes Replacer version.
