About this mod

Silver Hand Armored gives Steel Plate Armor to all the hunters of the Silver Hand so as to turn this faction into a warrior faction rather than a gang of bandits.

Silver Hand Armored

Silver Hand Armored
is a simple outfit modification mod for the Silver Hand. All the faction members now wear Steel Plate Armor. The goal is to transform the Silver Hand in a true warrior faction and set it apart from bands of bandit.

Mantle of the Silver Hand and Immersive Armors

Be careful. Their leader is a tricky one. They call him 'the Skinner'. I don't think I need to tell you why.

Patches for Mantle of the Silver Hand and Immersive Armors by Hothtrooper44 are provided. Both makes Krev the Skinner (and other Silver Hand "bosses") wears the Mantle of the Silver Hand. Additionally, the Immersive Armors patch makes sure IA does no overwrite the outfit changes. Both patch requires the original mod. Please note that you need to properly port Mantle of the Silver Hand (converting plugin to form 44 and optimizing the NIF files) in order to make it work on Special Edition. You could also simply port the ESP to form 44 and copy the meshes and textures from Immersive Armors; doing so you will have proper meshes and the ground model introduced by IA (the ground model of the Oldrim version is just a werewolf head).

Have you tried to shoot a werewolf with a crossbow?

Some people prefer to hunt werewolf with crossbows, an additional plugin is provided for them.

Customization

Silver Hand Armorer is made to be modular and configurable, the installer provides different patches and optional plugins to customize how the Silver Hand members look:

Customization patches:

Customization optional plugins:
  • Archers in Leather Armor
  • Bosses in Nordic Carved Armor
  • Archers use Crossbows

Installation

Use the FOMod installer and choose the options corresponding to your mod list.

Updating from  1.1.x to a later version: read spoiler.
Spoiler:
Show
From version 1.2, all the plugins are flagged as ESL and the compatibility patches are no longer separated versions. Before 1.20, if you used Mantle of the Silver Hand and Master Of Disguise (as an example) you only needed to take the MOD+Mantle ESP. From 1.20, all the patches are optional plugins. Therefore you need the main SilverHandArmored.esp and the SilverHandArmored-Mantle.esp and SilverHandArmored-MOD.esp patches. Do not worry, they are all flagged as ESLs. This change was necessary in order to make maintenance, compatibility with other mods  and the introduction of new patches simpler.

Updating from 1.1.x to 1.2.x may cause issues because the plugins are now flagged as ESLs. In the worst case
scenario you will find already spawn NPCs naked. You can fix that by
opening the console, selecting them and use the resurrect command. I only experienced this issue with the Immersive Armors patch. Other than that, you should be fine.

Load Order

LOOT should be used for optimal placement and follow this scheme:

  • Patched mod #1
  • Patched mod #2
  • Silver Hand Armored
  • Patch for mod #1
  • Patch for mod #2

When you combine multiple patches, the load order between the patches is important. Example: you want the Silver Hand bosses to wear the armor from Armor Variants Expansion but you also want them to wear the Mantle of the Silver Hand. In order to do that you need to place SilverHandArmored+Mantle.esp below SilverHandArmored-AVExpansion.esp because the latter changes the boss' helmet and will override the previous one. Here is an example of load order:

  • Master of Disguise - Special Edition.esp
  • AVExpansion.esp
  • Krev The Skinner's Mantle by Hothtrooper44.esp
  • SilverHandArmored.esp
  • SilverHandArmored-Crossbows.esp
  • SilverHandArmored-MOD.esp
  • SilverHandArmored-AVExpansion.esp
  • SilverHandArmored-Mantle.esp

Compatibility

Silver Hand Armored modifies the NPCs by assigning them a new outfit rather than modifying the base outfit (which is the default outfit for bandits). All the mods that change the bandits outfits without touching the Silver Hand actors are compatible. Except Immersive Armors, I have not used a mod changing the Silver Hand actors. Most mods should be compatible.

Recommendations

  • With Reasonable Silver Hand the members of the Silver Hand no longer attack you on sight like common bandits if you are not part of the Companions.

Alternative

A great alternative to this mod is Unplayable Faction Armors by NordWarUA which adds new armors to the Silver Hand and other unplayable factions. The standalone NordwarUA's Silver Hand Armor patch provided by Silver Hand Armored allows you to only use the Silver Hand armor from Unplayable Faction Armors.
