Necromancy? I am a member of the College of Winterhold, in good standing!

Says Wuunferth the Unliving, Court Mage of Windhelm, when you suggest that he has been toying with the darker arts of Conjuration.
But what's this? You ask him what he has for sale and there it is! Necromancy! Spell tomes for raising the dead! That bastard!

Everywhere you go in Skyrim magic is looked on with suspicion and disdain, and no magic seems to be as hated and feared as Necromancy. Wuunferth is suspected by some among Windhelm's populace of Necromancy, but such accusations are kept as fearfully whispered rumors. Fallion is merely suspected of trafficking in the dark art, and that is enough for his fellow citizens of Morthal to want him ran out of town. The College of Winterhold, famously permissive in the studies it permits its students, nonetheless cautions against letting one's necromantic experiments be spotted by the public. Open necromancers are found only in the wilds, exiled from society for the twisted magics they practice.

But for some reason you can walk up to public figures such as Court Wizards, some of whom literally mention their opposition to necromancy in dialogue, and buy necromancy spells from them with absolutely no questions asked. Its completely incongruent with everything the game and world tells you about necromancy and what Skyrim's society does to its practitioners.

Necromancy is Taboo creates a separate set of spell tome leveled lists which exclude necromancy spells and swaps them with the vanilla versions in the inventories of those mage vendors who are upstanding members of society. The College of Winterhold and a certain wizard in Morthal are left unchanged. Necromancy is now closer to the forbidden and hated art it is portrayed as, an aspiring necromancer will have a more difficult time finding someone to lead them down the dark path they walk.

Compatibility

This mod:

• Creates 21 new leveled item lists. They are the same as vanilla equivalents, but have necromancy and more socially questionable summonings such as dremora removed.
• Edits 9 merchant containers to contain the new "no taboo" leveled item lists instead of vanilla ones.
  

This mod does not:

• Alter vanilla leveled item lists
• Alter what sort of loot you will get in a dungeon
• Add or remove spells from the game. Everything is still obtainable, one simply needs to look for sources less ...constrained by social concerns.
