Description

As the name suggests, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is a larger version of the Galaxy S8, equipped with an even bigger, 6.2-inch Infinity display stretching from edge to edge. The screen is also taller, allowing the phone to remain somewhat manageable in the hand despite the extra-large screen area. To make room for the taller screen, however, Samsung has replaced the physical buttons with on-screen ones, while the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back. In terms of software and hardware, the Galaxy S8+ is nearly identical to the S8, powered by the fast and efficient Snapdragon 835 SoC. But the additional space has allowed Samsung to fit in a bigger, 3500mAh battery. And the camera is similar to the 12MP unit found on the Galaxy S7, but improved software processing allows it to create better photos by stitching together the best portions of multiple frames.

Largest battery life

Phone owned for less than a month

This phone is excellent. Far superior to the s8. I had this phone on moderate power saving mode and took it on holiday for three days. When I came back to the UK, it had five percent left, and finally died just as I got home.

This was after using it for WhatsApp, maps, internet browsing, taking photos and videos.

Immensely powerful phone, games run smooth and the screen is outstanding.

The worst phone I've ever had in the sense that dropping it once on the floor caused some weird crack _through_ the ultra hyper gorilla glass, that long press only works on upper part of the screen...

Phone owned for less than a year

got my S8plus the day after release. easily my favorite Samsung to date, and I loved the Note 4 and the S7edge. my only issue with the phone is the fact that premium seems to equal fragile. gorilla glass is not as tough as it sounds, at least not for drops and such. it would be best to invest in a skin for the back, and a decent minimalistic case that will work with the skin. picking this phone up off a desk or table in a hurry is damn near impossible, and will result in the aforementioned drop here and there. the battery is decent for most normal everyday use, and that infinity display is amazing. the camera is top notch, it's hard to take a bad quality photo. of course, the biggest public gripe is the placement of the fingerprint scanner, and I was one of those as well. however, muscle memory has kicked in, and I don't think I ever touch the camera anymore after about the first two weeks. I can do it right or left handed, though I am a lefty. facial recognition works most of the time, but it can be picky at times, then I quickly trigger the fingerprint scanner. overall, this phone is another step in the right direction for Samsung, and it looks like the Note 8 has addressed some of the issues that nag at this phone. I could see myself waiting for the S10, bypassing the S9plus next year.
