Samsung One UI 7 release date predictions, supported devices, and possible features

The new One UI 7 interface has recently leaked out. Minor bits and pieces, like the iconography and the Quick Toggle panel, have leaked out, giving us a good look at the way One UI 7 could look. 

It seems like the Galaxy phones' Contacts, Settings, Dialer, Camera, Browser, Theme, Gallery, and other stock applications have new icons that are different from what's on the Galaxy S24 and even the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. Both the Settings app icon and the menu iconography inside have been completely redrawn according to the new concept, with more rounded edges around. 

Aside from that, Samsung is likely coming with a new One UI feature, which allows notifications to get expanded into a sort of live activity, somewhat similar to the Apple's Dynamic Island handles some functionalities. In the leaked alleged demo below, the timer activity can get minimized straight into the notification shade. It looks a bit rough around the edges, but that's expected from a beta. 

One UI 7 might deliver a highly requested feature - app locking. This pretty straightforward addition to One UI 7 will let you lock any app more easily than before.

Given the mounting adoption of AI across the industry, we wouldn't be surprised if One UI 7 doubles down on generative artificial intelligence and machine learning. Now that Apple has unveiled iOS 18, which is not only a major software update from a traditional standpoint, but also kickstarts Apple's heavy investment into AI, all bets are off as to what One UI 7 will utilize in terms of AI features and functionalities. 

Android 15 could also mark an important milestone for widget appreciators, as the upcoming software could support Lock Screen widgets. We're coming full circle here, as Android supported these in its early days.

We find it extremely likely that the majority of Android 15 features will carry over to One UI 7. So, knowing what features might arrive with Android 15 means that we can speculate what One UI 7 might boast. 

As per the rumors, Android 15 might deliver battery health to Android, or an easy and native way to check the health of your phone's battery. This will be similar to iOS' feature of the same type. The Android 15 battery health will also be able to tell if the phone's battery has been swapped.

Battery life optimizations are also coming to One UI 7, reportedly. Galaxy AI could be used to intelligently shut down unnecessary tasks running in the background that use system resources.

Rumors have it that Samsung will be bringing a vertical app drawer with One UI 7. A moderator of the Samsung Community form has spilled the beans that a vertically scrollable app drawer is currently being prepared for the next iteration of One UI. However, seeing that the person represents the Good Lock Support team, there's a chance this feature will be available as a Good Lock module. Good Lock is a Samsung-specific suite of extra customizability features that unlock a whole trove of extra options for personalization.
