In the words of a wise 90's pop singer, "Everybody hurts, sometimes," and so often, we cannot control the difficulties that come our way. When suffering shows up (for example, depressed mood, anxiety, self-esteem or relationship problems), we can develop unhelpful coping strategies, behaviours, or symptoms that further complicate our lives and drain us of joy, energy, and serenity. However, I believe we are all born with an innate ability to heal, grow, and thrive in the face of adversity, and my goal is to help my clients activate this ability.
I work to nurture my clients' own "inner healer" through an active therapy style, using mind, emotions, and bodily "felt sense" as pathways to healing and growth, in short or longer-term therapy. Depending on client interest and needs, I also integrate psychotherapy with mindfulness; a combination well supported in research on healing and wellness.
My practice is feedback-informed. This means I regularly and formally assess how effective therapy is in the day-to-day lives of my clients.
