Hi, my name is Emily and I am a therapist who specializes in attachment related issues. But what does that even mean? Simply put, attachment related issues can stem from relational trauma, chronic stress, unmet childhood needs, and plenty more. As stressors accumulate, feelings of anxiety, depression, being easily irritable/fatigued, or feelings of being on autopilot can take over. In therapy, you should expect us to talk about relational patterns, life experiences, and day to day stressors. Together, we will look at new ways to self-soothe and feel self-compassion to heal and feel more connected in day to day life.
The most common issues I treat in kids and teens are grief and loss, self-esteem, frequent emotional outbursts, trauma, and supporting families through caregiver transitions (i.e. step parenting, foster care/adoption/kinship, caregiver death, etc.). I also love working with caregivers on helping them develop a brain-based approach to parenting!
