Throughout life, we frequently encounter obstacles between where we are at and what we want to achieve. These obstacles can manifest themselves in the form of depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, self-esteem/self-confidence issues, or unresolved grief and trauma, to name a few. Gaining a better understanding of who we are as individuals is an important step in creating a sense of personal fulfillment in all aspects of our personal and social lives. I work with individuals in a collaborative process to explore these obstacles, challenge old patterns and beliefs, and find new ways of thinking and being.

I have experience working with relational issues, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders, among other issues. Clients describe me as patient, flexible, and funny, and have often commented on feeling “seen” and “understood.” In session, I like to “follow you” wherever you want to take me so that we can navigate this process at your own pace.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is truly passionate about walking people through difficult times throughout their lives and to help them to find hope. I strive to make sure each client feels heard and understood and take the time to develop individual relationships with each of my clients. Throughout my time in private practice, I have had the opportunity to work with teens and adults facing a variety of issues. Specifically, I have worked with individuals, couples and families experiencing conflict, communication issues, divorce, difficulty with co-parenting, issues with self esteem and life stage transitions.

As a Black woman, I recognize the importance of providing a safe and inclusive space. I work with clients who are navigating day to day life changes such as stress management, anxiety, family/friend relationships, and childhood trauma. Therapy is a collaborative journey that does not have to be traversed alone.

I provide individual, relationship, and group psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, specializing in sexual problems, spirituality, multicultural clients/families/issues, LGBTQ clients, grief/loss, anxiety/depression, premarital counseling, HIV/AIDS, and a variety of other presenting issues. Teresa Latonja Walker is a licensed clinical social worker. Teresa seeks to always engage with her clients in a way that encourages trust. She listens without judgment and assists clients in identifying their personal strengths, triggers, stressors, and goals. Teresa works with individuals, and groups using motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

My experience has been with people who have turned to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, or self-injury to cope with various life events. Others have shut down in the form of depression or paralyzing anxiety. Essentially the ways of handling life’s stressors are no longer effective, and in these moments we need help. I enjoy working with people who have a desire to learn how to better navigate their transition.
