We can explore attachment needs and what intimacy looks like for you. I consider myself multicultural and first-gen, so identity development as it pertains to culture hits close to home. There are a lot of factors related to identity, purpose, and sexuality that can play into how we attempt to create and maintain relationship to others. Clients I work with are introspective and want to use self-knowledge to lead a more fulfilling life.

Through our working relationship, you will create new and deeper understandings of yourself and your life, with the hope of ultimately feeling more content and fulfilled in your relationships and all your pursuits.
Whatever has brought you to seek help at this time, you are taking a courageous step forward. In our initial meetings, I will hold an open space for you to begin to tell your unique story of your self, relationships, family, culture, strengths and struggles. You can expect me to listen deeply to begin to learn about you and your reasons for seeking therapy. We all have some aspects about ourselves that we don’t fully understand or may not have words for yet. Psychotherapy can create a place where you can discover some of these unspoken thoughts and feelings, and in turn, powerful transformation can occur.

However, all research shows that your relationship with your therapist is the biggest predictor of therapeutic success.
I help individuals, couples, families, and executives improve their relationships to others and themselves. I combine insight, mindfulness, and experiential models of therapy to increase awareness of the process and patterns that keep people stuck and identify and implement new ways of being with themselves and others. I actively guide clients through different ways of thinking and communicating in session and will often assign “homework” to deepen this work outside of session. Trained at Northwestern University, I am an integrative and systemic therapist who pulls from a number of different evidence-based models of therapy.

My approach is founded upon the relationship I have with each client. I create a safe, comfortable environment by providing empathy, genuineness, and a sense of humor, and work collaboratively with each client to meet their unique goals. I help clients to identify, express, and understand emotions so that they may better manage them. Therapy can also aid in understanding and changing patterns in relationships that may contribute to distress. I welcome conversations with clients about our relationship, as this can be very useful in shedding light on other relationships in their lives.

Life is difficult even under the best of circumstances. You may be seeking therapy in order to overcome some blocks to important goals in your relationships or career. Oftentimes these blocks are the result of using ways of coping that once were essential in dealing with important figures and problems from earlier in life, but which now get in the way of positive and healthy emotional and interpersonal functioning. Therapy is an excellent way of using a helping relationship to identify these coping styles, and ultimately to develop more effective ways of relating to yourself and to others.

Therapy is at heart a relationship, two minds and spirits attempting to form a healing alliance.
In my 25 years of practice, I have learned some important truths: what happened to us doesn’t have to determine what happens for us; under the right conditions, the human spirit orients toward growth and wholeness; therapy can be an important addition to the healing process. People come to therapy for many reasons, often the initial phase of the work is in improving coping strategies so you can feel better sooner. Beyond symptomology, understanding you and your unique context are essential for unearthing longstanding behavior patterns. Therapy is about revising your story and making you the author of the next chapter.

Is there something holding you back from living the life you want? Do you feel anxious, depressed, uncertain, fearful or confused as to how to move forward? Do you hope to change an aspect of your life but you don’t know where to start? The journey of therapy can be a powerful tool to help you move through and uncover some of these obstacles and propel you towards the life that you have imagined. While I commonly see people facing life adjustments, anxiety, or depression, some other common themes include grief, self-acceptance, relationship concerns, chronic illness, and perinatal/ postpartum mental health concerns.

I have ten years of experience supporting people navigating all kinds of relationship challenges so you don’t have to worry about me thinking something is weird.
Relationship issues can hijack your life. Dysfunctional romantic and family relationships, demanding bosses, inappropriate coworkers, weird friends, or complicated roommates can all be the kinds of relationships that isolate us; affect our sleep, appetites, and focus; and stir up BIG feelings. Breaking up, even if it's the right thing to do, can turn our lives upside down while we feel pressure on us to “just move on already,” when we are grieving. Sometimes we are having a hard time grieving loved ones who have died. Difficult relationships can also cause collateral damage to your relationship with yourself.

I have over 20 years of experience treating a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, perinatal/postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, relationship problems, parenting challenges, low self-esteem, grief/loss, and trauma.
Coping with life challenges is not something you have to go through alone. Many people seek therapy for support, information, and new ideas on how to better handle the curve balls that life can throw sometimes. I believe that human beings are incredibly resilient and sometimes need assistance in recognizing their own inner strength to create positive changes in their lives. The therapeutic relationship should be collaborative, built upon both mutual respect and independence, and I hope to empower my clients to find opportunities for personal growth so that they can move forward with their goals.

Together, we can work through anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and other challenges affecting the mind, body, and spirit.
The human condition is intricate. Despite our best intentions, there are many challenges that appear in our life that stem from ingrained habits, internal struggles, and emotional distress. Traumatic experiences can erode our sense of self, leaving us consumed and fearful of rejection, judgment, or lack of purpose. By understanding these experiences, we can create a path that leads to healing and well-being. Therapy offers a safe space to explore these responses, examining irrational beliefs, existential meaning, and your connection to body and spirit. Through radical self-discovery, one can reclaim an authentic existence.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
