The clients who come to me are looking for more than someone to listen and nod. While being "heard" is an important component of counseling, clients experience the most growth when they are challenged to explore themselves and their relationships from more than surface level. Understanding attachment & gaining insight about your feelings and behavior is an important component of therapy. It's hard to communicate without arguing when you don't understand why you're getting triggered.
I'm very mindful that clients are trusting me with the most personal details of their lives. I understand that therapy is a commitment of your time and financial resources.
