Many struggle with life issues, however when issues arise that are very difficult to resolve, the insight of a compassionate and objective professional can be very beneficial. The issues that arise in life are as varied as the individuals experiencing them causing one to feel overwhelmed, unhappy and dissatisfied. It is my hope that you will pursue the peace and purpose in life that you deserve.

Hi, I’m Abby. I help people find ways of moving through pain more effectively and wholeheartedly. Experience working with psychiatric crises and severe & persistent mental illness taught me that presence and connection are possible amid deep emotional pain and the human capacity for meaningful change is remarkable. “You know that the antidote to exhaustion is not necessarily rest? … The antidote to exhaustion is wholeheartedness.” - David Whyte

The pace of modern life, its demands and technology, can occasionally overwhelm the most courageous and determined human being, and a sensitive soul can become even more easily derailed. Add to that our habituated tendency to numb our feeling selves and disassociate from our bodies, and it is no wonder so many of us feel out of alignment with our natural freedom, self-expression, creativity and joy. My work is about helping you return to this original state. The method? A context and relationship that value and invite embodied, sacred conversation to guide us home to our truest and highest nature.

Accepting new clients - My mission is for each client to find their true self and voice and see that so many of our negative storylines and scripts are just programming we have picked up throughout our lives. My heart is to follow each client's lead on where he or she needs to go versus my own agenda and / or preferences. I believe that it is in allowing space for our experiences of our full humanity that we realize that at our most fundamental level our essence is actually good and true.

Welcome to the search for a sacred healing space with genuine safety and trust. In my 25+ years as a clinical psychologist, I have repeatedly witnessed this truth: taking the risk to begin a therapeutic relationship is an act of both bravery and self-compassion. Therapy can and should be empowering and transformative. In my work I seek a balance of gentleness, nurture and challenge with those who entrust me with their stories; my clients have shown me that deep change is possible. My specialties include complex trauma, women's sexuality, spirituality & anxiety disorders.

Overwhelmed. Anxious. Exhausted. Your brain is like a hamster wheel of worst-case scenarios, relentless worry, and you're just... so... TIRED. You've tried ignoring, distracting, or arguing with yourself to get some peace, but the relief is temporary. When it all comes barging back, you wonder, "Why can't I stop ...(insert cyclical mental stress)..? How come..(insert quick-fix).. isn't working? …Will I EVER feel better?!" You know there are ways to find relief from OCD, anxiety, or trauma, but none of your self-help internet research has made much improvement. There HAS to be a way to break free of this emotional trap... right?

NEW evening availability. Clients who work with me are often navigating transitions, especially in their career. Often times, crippling fear holds you back from making that leap despite the inner "knowing" that something isn't for you anymore. I also work with those navigating other life transitions- breakups, divorce, spiritual shifts, or couples navigating new or challenging seasons in their romantic partnership. I also have a special interest in working with those experiencing the loss of a pet, as well as those looking to integrate psychedelic experiences- included, but not limited to Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

These are uncertain, stressful and often lonely times. If you've found my name, either on purpose or simply by searching for a therapist, welcome. It means that you are struggling but longing for more. You are aching for change but may not even be sure where to begin. The first step is your willingness to move forward, and that may be as simple as an email or phone call to me or someone you trust.

Have you noticed a change in your child's behavior? Are you looking for tools to assist your child's overall well being? I have a passion for working with children, teens, and families to assist with various life stressors that may be present. Taking the first step is one of the most difficult to take. Seeking help can be overwhelming, stressful, or bring up various emotions, but once the step is taken you will be greeted with compassion, support, and empathy. Children and adolescents are often times forgotten about or even overlooked, but I believe their mental health is just as important as others.

I am so pumped that you're here! I know what it feels like to seek out a new therapist, and I don’t take for granted the courage and vulnerability it takes for you to share these parts of yourself. My goal is to create a pathway to help you reveal your authentic self. We do this by examining what’s been conditioned and impressed upon you while also identifying what feels true and authentic to who you are. I approach this work first and foremost with compassion, curiosity, open-mindedness, and authenticity. I believe there is room for pain and humor in therapy. I promise to keep it real with you and to share some laughs, too!

I was raised in the diverse melting pot of NYC as a first-generation Chinese American, born to parents who emigrated from Hong Kong. After college, I moved to Nashville, where I had the wonderful privilege of traveling the world as a musician. These experiences afforded me the unique opportunity to hear thousands of people’s stories—from depression, suicide, grief, and addiction to hope found amidst it all. Through these stories, as well as my own, I came to realize the powerful gift of therapy and the difference that occurs when one comes to understand their intrinsic worth and their capacity to be seen, heard, known, and loved.

One of the most meaningful parts of the human experience is being in relationship. Whether it’s premarital, marital/partnership or divorce adjustment, I love to help couples discern the kindest, safest, most loving way to navigate their world. The relationships we had with our primary caregivers often serve as a template for how we negotiate romantic partnership, and those models don’t always work for us. We carry the stories of all attachment relationships with us, and they impact the way we interact with our partners. When the going gets tough and love itself is not enough, how do we turn toward our chosen ones instead of away?

Are you a couple or an individual feeling lost, as if something is off, but you can't quite put your finger on it? Perhaps you feel trapped in repetitive cycles, yet longing to break free from old patterns that no longer serve you. Maybe you've done therapy before and feel like you've gathered insight, but intellectualizing isn't getting you where you want to be.

Anxiety can be destructive on your life. Change can be a great opportunity and scary. Anxiety and stress are unfortunately lifelong, and can ebb and flow at different levels when events, often outside of our control, converge at the same time! The same with Depression, and it is such a dark place to be when you feel all alone, not sure how to get yourself out of the pit of sadness. It is during those times, when having a therapist can truly help you calm your mind and re-focus on tasks to re-claim yourself. Maybe you are you facing a career change? Together we will find ways to heal and return to your life!

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
