Male Therapists in Vermont
It’s been a tough few years to say the least. You’re probably thinking things aren’t going as well in your teen's life as they used to. There is something going on in their mind, body, or spirit that is holding them back from the full potential you know they can reach. Like many others they’ve probably experienced something recently or in your life that still has power over your emotions to this day. You want to help them get back to thriving, but don’t know exactly where to start. Maybe traditional talk therapies have helped to an extent, but didn’t get them as far as you wanted to go.

I work with adults who need help managing the challenges of modern life.
Currently accepting new clients. Life can be complex: relationships, family, school, work. Our lives can be further challenged by the unique aspects of our times. We are under constant bombardment of information, straining our ability to focus and compartmentalize. Factors such as trauma, shame and guilt further complicate things. My approach is to help "break it down and make it simple". This means helping people untangle their thoughts, pressures and feelings, while collaboratively devising plans aimed at learning to manage and alleviate whatever symptoms are causing distress.

Perhaps you've been mandated to go to therapy, or someone in your life has strongly suggested you find a therapist.
Hi, I’m Danny. I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC), and I have over 17 years of counseling experience. I put my master’s degree in counseling and my toolkit from my life’s winding path to use for clients who are curious about their own mental and emotional wellbeing. There are so many reasons why you might be looking for a therapist right now. The world we live in provides so many opportunities for stress and concern, and just trying to figure out how to cope can feel overwhelming. Sometimes you’re just trying to find a way through the very common feeling of: "I just don't feel right". I’m here to help.

My approach involves systemic family therapy, ecotherapy, and mindfulness, and I work in an experiential, body-based manner.
I am seeing see couples and families. - - We each make sense of the world in our own unique way in the context of the people around us. Through conversations with ourselves and with important people in our lives, we create stories and develop our sense of self. We also carry internal voices from past experiences. When difficulties arise, we can address them through reflective conversations with others. Through dialogue, listening deeply to one another, and ensuring all voices are heard, new ideas can emerge. We can find new ways forward that weren’t previously possible.

I have been working as a psychotherapist, counselor, clinical supervisor and consultant for over twenty years. My approach has become eclectic and energized by my interest in family systems, substance use, emotional well being, and the possibilities offered by an in depth approach to psychotherapy. My training as an Archetypal Pattern Analyst and in orientational approaches to dream work have consistently informed my work and my enjoyment of the psychotherapeutic and consulting process. The more I learn the more respect, empathy, joy and humor I have for the act of collaboration needed to find a fuller way of being in our lives.

My practice is based on the premise that the relationship is key to emotional wellbeing. Life experiences and especially trauma can lead us to distort our interpretations of both our internal and external worlds. My counseling experience began in 2007 working with young people with extensive social, emotional, and behavioral needs. This inevitably raised my awareness of the importance of the family and related support systems. I spent much of my life as a professional musician and have been able to use music in my therapeutic work, supporting the development and maintenance of sharing, self-regulation, and effective communication.

Different problems force us to take stock in who we are and how we are living. We struggle through anxiety, sadness, trauma, loneliness; some of us have used unhealthy coping mechanisms to get by. Eventually, we come to learn that asking for help is one of the most powerful actions we can take.

I've seen the power of hu man connection and how it can be a catalyst for great change in our lives. When people take the courageous step to seek therapy, they know they want to change something, but they may not know what the thing is, or how to go about changing it. I meet my clients where they are with authenticity, and am adept at shining a light on their competence, capacity for growth, and value they bring to the world.
