I do believe in educating clients with regard to CBT/DBT/Mindfulness techniques, which are invaluable when used to improve everyday functioning and helping individuals manage distress. However, where clients remain stuck is a combination of 1) Not being aware of underlying unresolved issues and 2) Not knowing how to get at them and bring them forward to consciousness. Often, therapists work with traumatic 'events' that clients bring to them. I process these events, but also help uncover more.

Showing up to therapy is a concrete way to quiet the commotion around you so you can reflect, process, and then take action to pursue the life you want with intentionality. It is my goal to establish an environment that is a safe place to let your guard down. Setting time aside to pause can feel like taking a healing breath. Our life's work is helping clients achieve a better sense of self and happiness...more recently we've recognized that without good mental health providers, finding this balance in life can be more difficult and stressful. As a result, we tend toward an Integrative approach and help our clients transform into the people they want to be. We see each client as an individual with many parts to their identity. Utilizing a holistic and systemic approach we help clients reintegrate the parts of themselves to function better as individuals and within their systems. Our focus tends toward a systems based approach using behavior methods.

I have been working as a licensed psychotherapist for the last 10 years and have additional training in Motivational Interviewing, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and PEERS social skills training from UCLA. I am also the author of Conquer Anxiety in Ten Weeks. In 2021 I decided to pursue a career as a neuropsychologist and am currently working on my PhD. With a specialization in neuropsychology I have gained training and education in brain anatomy, brain function, the relationship between the brain and behavior, and neuropsychological assessments.

I have been in the Medical field for decades- I have experienced all types of obstables in my life- or shall we say road blocks. I would like to offer my services to whom ever may need it. I come from a big family and lots of uncles and aunts. I have a AS degree in Science, A- BA in Sociology, A- MA in Transformational Leadership and a Applied Doctorate in Forensic Psychology. My name is Jonathan Irish and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a wide-ranging amount of professional counseling experience including residential programs for at-risk youth, detention alternate housing for teenagers, community mental health, acute inpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and the outpatient level of care. I grew up in a small town as a pastor's kid and my education after High School has been at Christian institutions of higher education. A Biblical, Christian worldview forms the basis of my life but is not something I include in all my counseling practices.
