I am registered with the Health Professions Council as a clinical and counselling psychologist. I have worked in private practice for over 25 years, and also in psychiatric hospitals for several years. I am comfortable working with a wide variety of challenges and difficulties. I enjoy working with adults and also with adolescents, accompanying them on their journey towards finding themselves as young adults who are able to function independently and who derive a sense of meaning and purpose from their lives.
My work is mostly informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy. I also make use of mindfulness and I have a growing interest in working with trauma using somatic focused techniques. My areas of interest include addiction, eating disorders, treating deep seated trauma, and couple counselling.
I understand that therapy works when there is a good fit in the relationship between the client and the psychologist. For this therapeutic relationship to be strong, confidentiality is of utmost importance as is the reliability and availability of the psychologist. I welcome questions and sharing feedback about my experience of our work together.
