Bengaluru South is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, India. It comprises eight legislative assembly segments, of which BJP has MLAs in five seats and the Congress in three seats. The constituency has been a BJP fortress, and the saffron party has not lost an election here since 1991. With plenty of green cover, the segment has affluent mixed residential and commercial neighbourhoods. The foundation of Jayanagar, one of the Assembly segments, was laid in the year 1948. It was one of the first planned neighbourhoods in Bengaluru, and at the time, the largest in Asia. Despite having among the most elite, well-educated electorate, the constituency has displayed a consistent track record of the poorest voter turnout among the three seats in Bengaluru Urban district.
