Mysuru is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, India. It comprises eight legislative assembly segments, including Madikeri and Virajpet which fall under Kodagu district. A Congress stronghold for long, Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency has been won by BJP on four occasions so far, including the last two consecutive elections. The candidature of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar marks the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru’s return to electoral politics after a gap of two decades. The segment is home to "City of Palaces" Mysuru, whose Dasara celebration and procession draw tourists from across the globe. The city is also the namesake to various art forms and culture, such as Mysore painting, Mysore Pak, Mysore Sandal Soap, Mysore Paints; Mysore Peta, and Mysore silk saree. Mysore is also known for its own special variety of jasmine flower - the "Mysore Mallige". Tourism is a lifeline industry in the constituency.
